I seriously believe his IQ to be at least 20 points below average (which come to think of it, makes him pretty smart for an Alabama elected official). Knocked off the establishment Repub (who was at least intelligent, if a little crazy on the abortion thing) by screaming about the taxes and the gays. Gets to Congress and immediately (on his first day there) files a motion to impeach John Boehner, assuring maximum screwage for his district.

Was just gerrymandered into that district. Previous Rep was Democrat Terri Sewell, pretty much a nonentity. She did OK cutting ribbons with giant scissors and congratulating high school bands.

I'm pretty ambivalent about Palmer, but I thought he shredded DeMarco in their debate.

Did not see their debate; but have known DeMarco a long time. Don't like his politics, but he's pretty smart, and he was strong for #FreeUAB as a state rep, working hand-in-hand with black Demo legislators to fight the evil Bryant cabal. I'll always choose green over red or blue.

Demanding your boss' firing on Day One is beyond naive, it's the act of a lunatic.

Dave Brat, he's just getting started. Economics professor, fiscal conservative and not overly hung up on the "social" issues.

That and he replaced the entitled Eric Cantor after he apparently completely forgot where he lived and who put him in office.

Dave Brat is my rep as well. So far so good I guess. Met him briefly at a function late last year. Seemed like a good guy.

RE: Do you like your US Representative?
Not really but it could be worse. Mine is Rep. Buddy Carter, a first-term Republican. Carter is a pharmacist by trade who spent years as a state lawmaker and was mayor of a small town outside Savannah until longtime Congressman Jack Kingston stepped down to run for Senate and got beat.

Kingston's now a lobbyist, no surprise there. Carter, who is an establishment type who's spent decades making friends in high places, easily beat a couple more hard right Tea-Party conservatives in primary then cruised in general election because this district has been a GOP lock since the early 1990s. The last Democrat here was Lindsey Thomas, and prior to that it was all Democrat.

Anyhow, Carter goes along with GOP on everything and seems fairly innocuous, to be honest.

I don't like him because I associate him with the state GOP's gutting of EPD. The blackwater Ogeechee River is nearby and was on a Top 10 most endangered rivers list a few years ago, then we had a massive fish kill linked to a certain industry and even conservatives I knew were after Buddy for his inaction on that one.

He did get into a little bit of a controversy over his role in a pharmacy bill, but it didn't seem that serious to me, more a case of his GOP primary opponents trying to stir things up.

Before I moved, I was in Jack Kemp's old district which always elected moderate Republicans. All were competent (although one did get bounced in a sex scandal). My last vote there elected the current incumbent on his first try.

Now my rep is Louise Slaughter, an extreme left wacko liberal, Depends wearing bi*ch.

Guess which one she is

But all those Democrats demanding W and Cheney be brought up on war crimes and all the disgusting things they said about our President and VP is completely above board to you?

What does that have to do with acting out of line on the Congressional floor nevermind it was during a POTUS speech. You're reaching and grasping at nothing.

Dressing down SCOTUS justices during a SOTU is above board to you?

You can claim I'm "reaching and grasping at nothing" all day and twice on Sunday, but the fact of the matter is you can't claim the moral high ground when Democrats did the same the same thing and in some instances far worse than what Joe Wilson did. Keep raging at that impressive strawman you've built, it's what you do best.

We have a demoncratic water carrier ala Red who loves obama. Anything obama wants he'll vote in his favor. Remember, in El Paso you'll hardly ever have a Rep representing us. That's why sometimes we get shortchanged in budget allocations because Texas is a Rep state. It's very rare that a Rep will run here they know that they don't have a chance. Thus, we're taxed and screwed with every new people that come along. His name is Beto O'Roark.

What Joe Wilson did was out of bounds regardless of what anyone else did or does in the future. You can't justify it by saying someone else did something similar. I saw others in the tea party movement behave in similar ways during the height of their glory.

That's a big reason why my son hasn't made El Paso his "home" despite having to spend the next four years there at Ft Bliss. He still maintains our address as home and votes absentee in our elections.

As long as you excuse the behavior of the Dems, what Joe Wilson did was very much IN bounds. Unless you think Obama dressing down SCOTUS justices while they forced to sit there and take it is above board? Judging by your post here, I'd say you think excoriating SCOTUS justices = Good. Joe Wilson dropping a truth bomb during the SOTU = Bad.

His public dressing down of Rep. Ryan was a pretty classy act as well.

Have him sit in the front row for your speech, then aim the bully pulpit right square at him, where there is no opportunity to respond. 07-coffee3
