I don't buy the "sky is falling tomorrow" rhetoric.

The market is eternal in its own way.

it was before deflation/population growth/service centers became symonymous with rudolph (on his way).....that's the red nose fk'r

the market has been great over the long haul.....sucks balls if you're in your 50/60/70s now....just like the tulip era or the 30s....

ya gotta be an idiot to not see the writing.....numbers w/o means are a problem.....

oh shite, is central banking finally seeing it's end? who'd a thunk it?

Yea, the market is bound to crash at some point. The markets has lost 3K points over the past year. The thing I don't buy is Central Banks losing control over the markets. You sell high, buy low. They'll just wait for the SOB to bottom out and buy the same stocks for pennies.

The stock market is no indicator of the intended economy as a whole, just one sector. On a good day in NYC, it's cocaine and hookers and all the suits playing Michael Irvin. On a bad day they are jumping out of windows. Meanwhile, Joe in Springfield couldn't give a single phuck. It has become the Hollywood of the business world.

Legalize prostitution and drugs and the stock market would go up and taxes would go down.

Fine with me as long as it can't be marketed to children. My opinion is based on letting adults making choices and living with them. I don't believe for a second taxes would go down, however. The cash infusion would surely be wasted.

As a liberal I was assuming adults only. Although in reality depending on how marketed, children could be exposed to the marketing. Raises a different issue on if there should be a third bucket for criminal justice for people 18 to 24 - or whatever.

Agree with you on the cash infusion - which raises other issues - what is the role of government (and at what level); and how should tax money be spent. I am am a strong believer in effective government.

Third & fourth & fifth issue is money saved my not prosecuting and jailing people for prostitution and some drugs (using versus dealing). Plus the health benefits with controlling spread of disease by needle exchange and prostitution health checks (which ends up in most cases subsidized by tax money). Fifth is sex slavery in which if legal, they can come forward with less fear.

But that's just my opinion.

I don't have have a problem with it. Prostitution is a no-brainer, Not sure I would go with legalizing all drugs, but certainly pot, which seems pretty harmless.

Good post, I agree. I know why it hasn't happened yet (the "evangelical conservatives" say it's not family values, etc...) but it does make sense financially to do.

To be fair, none of the GOP moderates or establishment democrats are proposing anything like this either. Ted Cruz is the most open to it in the GOP race (more than Hillary) now that Rand is out and Ken Cuccinelli (Virginia) wanted to have the discussion while Terry McAuliffe won't. I haven't seen anyone proprose prostitution on either side.

Yes, too many deeply ingrained feelings about it that fade out the logic of such things. I doubt Cruz would advocate for legalizing prostitution and marijuana, & Sanders is the only Democrat who's for marijuana coming off the fed drug list (Hillary isn't, wow what a surprise, and IIRC neither was O'M).

Rand is against legalization of of marijuana ( he was the senate sponsor of the Congressman Harris appropriations to forbid DC from legalizing it. No way Cruz or Cuccinelli is for it. Hillary is against it saying BS like lets wait and see what happens in Colorado and Washington State.
