Adjusting to the late season cold isn't a problem for southern teams. Much, much easier to play in cold weather than the brutal humidity and heat of the south.
No because those games are completely different. The experience (beyond just the game) of playing the Air Force, Navy, Army, etc. is something to cherish.
Oregon also doesn't run a flexbone triple option. They're also a P5/National Championship contender.
You are all completely missing my point...
I guess I am! Don't be pissed, this is just a board conversation. My point is that there are a number of unique offensives out there. Triple option is just one. I just don't think you dodge or weasel your way out of facing these teams. As one other poster replied, especially if you are elite.

I mean sure, if I were given the choice, I'd pick a different solid mid-majorish type team to play. Like Fresno State, San Diego State, San Jose State, Utah State, MTSU, South Florida, etc... Basically the upper tier Sun Belt or C-USA teams or a mid-range Mountain West team, as long as the don't run the crazy triple option offenses. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't play Georgia Southern. I think our team should relish in the opportunity to play a solid program like GaSo, despite the wrinkles they will throw at us. If anything, our guys should learn and grow from it and gain valuable experience.

For the record....we've run 1 triple option play out of the flexbone the past 2 years...and it may have lost us the NC State game...just sayin...who knows what our offense will look like next year. Our new HC says that we will continue to run triple option concepts, but he definitely aims to throw the ball more, evidenced by him bringing in two OCs...one from the birthplace of the air raid offense, and one who can incorporate our running plays (hopefully) into a nice offensive burden for opposing defenses. Best guess...something that looks like Baylor or Oregon in a year or two. Worst case...GaSouthern circa 2009...

Based on that post, WMU could be catching this team at the right time, early on in a transformation of an offense. OR they could be catching them at the wrong time, with no film on this hybrid new form. Have I covered every base yet?

WMU is either going to win this game, or they're going to lose this game. That's the way I see it.

Possibly, but I think it'll come down to points.....if WMU scores more points I think the odds of them winning the game could be quite high.

FB, you're pushing rope with the "Let's not be challenged and find an easier mark to inflate our record crowd." They aspire to fill their vault with fools gold. Playing and beating middling teams to inflate the W-L record, go to a middling post season path be like Akron in buckets a decade or so ago with a 27-6 record and no respect because they crushed Blind Man's Bluff, the Lil Sisters of the Poor and the University of one peg legged Pirates.

This blogger has WMU being 2 of the top 17 OOC matchups for B1G teams this fall.
Quote:WMU will jolt Illinois in an upset. Illini fans may ask why their school didn’t hire Western Michigan’s Fleck.

I don't see beating the Illini as an "upset". WMU could very well be favored in that game by at least a touchdown if they get off to the hot start we hope for.

Agreed, if WMU is leading when time runs out I think we win

It's bad luck to be behind at the end of the game.
