From the Sausage Factory board
I am rooting for UALR this year, but even if they beat Arkansas they wouldn't get ANY home state recruits over us. If any quality players in the state of Arkansas have an offer from UA and want to stay in the state, then they will be choosing UA regardless of the success UALR is having at this point.

That seems to be a theme song in the Hog Pen. I have heard it before. And, of course, they probably are right. There is such a disparity of facilities and visibility. But one of these days, one of these days, we are going to land someone whom the Porcine Mafia would like to have had. Whether they would admit it or not is something else.

It will happen one day. Let's just say there was a "one and done" Little Rock player (like Monk or Goodwin) still available this Spring. If we end the season with 30 wins, how hard would it be to convince that player that his addition could make us a contender to go far in the NCAA tournament and make him a local hero that the city of Little Rock will never forget. Someday there will be an elite player in Little Rock who will have enough pride in his city to sign with us. Other than Portis, the last couple of great players (Goodwin and K. Allen) have had no desire to go to Fayetteville. If we have a top flight program, no reason they won't give us a hard look.

Maybe some day, but the poster is right. Even if we played and beat them it would have ZERO effect on whether or not they were the centerpiece team of the state. And that's fine. But the point is their excuse for not playing us (everything to lose, nothing to gain) is BS.

The most likely scenario would be a good in-state class that had more prospects than they had scholarships. They offered, but pulled it back because they ran out of slots.

Not very likely that we'd ever get a player the Hogs wanted, but we just need to get to the point where we get those next best local players that go out of state.

At the moment, Rivals shows Fayetteville signing four for next season. Three of the four they currently list as 3-stars. No doubt they had many other offers out there to prospects with more stars. If one of them had signed, then one of the 3-stars would not have had a spot.
