Love Coach's passion. He has clearly demonstrated he knows how to build a program. He's executed each phase of his plan so far, I hope he is able to accomplish the next phase of making UAB basketball have that "it" factor and buzz around town again.

The article also encourages me that Haase isn't getting as frustrated with the crowd to the point of throwing up his hands and leaving as I feared. This sounds like a man who's ready to roll up his sleeves and accomplish another piece of his plan.

I agree.

He and every reasonable person understands that this isn't something that's going to flip overnight. It's a gradual process that involves putting something on the court that will get people to come out, and, as mentioned, he definitely understands the allure of more recognizable brands playing here.

After the occasional attendance thread on here, his communications on the subject are refreshing. He gets it, and seems just as invested as one would expect him to be.

He's frustrated as hell. This all really started after a damn Alabama-Oregon game on December 21 that had an announced attendance over 14,000. I can see how this would frustrate the hell out of him. He is losing recruits to Alabama and Auburn, and you can bet your but this is part of the reason why. I don't think he's frustrated to the point of quitting, but he is frustrated that t he product he is putting on the floor isn't being appreciated as much as it should be.

He is frustrated. It started last year but year that was a boiling point.

Couple that with Ingram issues and I'm not all warm and fuzzy. We need to fix the one we can control.

I've invited more folks today

Yeah I am sure it started last year, I was just saying that is when he started to get vocal about it. I don't blame him one bit either. I have been a supporter of Haase from day 1, and I hope he doesn't reach a boiling point, but i can see how he is getting frustrated. I'm already concerned about the attendance at the auburn game next year. He is going to lose his mind if they fill half the arena.

It will be worse than the UNC crowd unless we don't get off our butts and buy tickets.

Of course he's frustrated, but his tone appears like he's still in the "Let's roll up our sleeves and do something about this" phase than just walking away because he thinks it's hopeless.

Didn't you say he likely wasn't leaving after this year (unless it's for a big time job)?

Whether UAB makes the NCAA tournament or not, Haase will see offers this year based on what he has done this far. If he is frustrated enough, he may even consider lower level power five jobs. Even the bottom rung teams in the big conferences pay more than he makes right now. Add to that a bigger fan base, better opponents, and greater exposure, we as fans have to convince him that UAB is something special. So far, that effort has been a failure.

Haase comes from basketball schools. The excuse that Birmingham is a football town probably rings hollow.

He may be offered positions but he is not going anywhere. Regardless of attendance, he is the type of person who is committed to achieving excellence here at UAB, full house, or not. He is not going to desert his freshmen and sophomores. No way. It is his first head coaching position. He wants to take UAB deep into the NCAA Tournaments. Money is not the issue for him. The man is dedicated, just as his players are. That is quite obvious.

I think you're right, at least I hope you're right. I think Hasse will stay at least until this current class graduates.

You know all this how. Obviously you must have known him for years and had long heart to heart conversations with him to know this. I hope you are right, but the fact is that no one knows what he will do. He probably doesn't know what he would do until the offer arrives.

It stuff like what you typed, fans projecting their hopes as fact, that gets everyone's panties in a wad when a coach does leave for a better opportunity.

And for the record, if he leaves, he want be abandoning his players. It's a business. Coaches and players know the score, that the guy you signed with might not be there the entire time.

I don't think he will get very good offers unless he makes the tournament again. His record just isn't very good yet... But then again, who knows. Just depends on what jobs open up.

Edit: I do think it's almost a guarantee he leaves in roughly two years with how poor our attendance is. (Assuming the next two years go well)
