I know some of you will be there, but if I hear anything interesting that is o.k. for public consumption, I'll post it. Unfortunately coaches can't speak about players they're recruiting or haven't signed, but maybe they can tell us what they're looking for. Inside players, outside players, etc., and can talk about the two we've already signed. So maybe it will be an interesting meeting. At least the food will probably be good, since I think it's coming from Corky's.04-cheers

Do you think Joe is giving us a cut on the barbecue this year?

I totally agree. He is a super guy, or seems to be. I've never met him, but have never heard anything bad about him. He was a hog when I was a hog fan.

RE: I hope to get a few answers on our recruits at the luncheon today.
First luncheon I've attended since Porter Moser's breakfast meetings. I really enjoyed it. Both coaches were great. I took my wife for the first time and she enjoyed it too. She said she didn't know Joe Foley was that funny. She thought he was quiet and bashful. She loved it. I asked Foley what he thought about changing the women's rules from two halves to four quarters. He likes it and said he was on the rules committee that made the change. He likes it because the team fouls start over each quarter, and you're not shooting one and one foul shots halfway into each half.

Coach Beard was great too. He said he was working on getting a good start, and not falling behind early in each game and having to make a comeback to get back into each game. He said App State had the best guard in the league who is averaging 30 points the past few games. He brought his three seniors and praised them for their leadership and gave them credit for the good start, as well as the rest of the team. Great day, and RBL said this was the best crowd ever fot the luncheon.

Coach Foley talked longer than I've ever heard him, and he was pretty funny. He was talking about how sitting players on the bench can help them learn to do things right, and he said there was a nerve in the butt that goes straight to the brain. Also he said we forget some of our really good teams had exactly the same record we have now and went on to win the tournament and go to the NCAA tournament. He still has high hopes for this team. He does think the women need to cut the scholarships back to the same as the men. We have fourteen players, which he thinks is too many. I did ask him about Autumn Williams and Alivia Huell, and his comment was something like they haven't become proficient enough on defense. I guess that was a nice way of putting it.

I asked Coach Beard about our recruits, and he was very complimentary of both Ryan Pippins and Andre Jones, and said both would be fine four year players for us. He also said we'd like to sign one more big man and one "gamer", no matter what the position, in the spring signing. Don't know where we'll put them, but "those things always work out".

He had Josh, Jermaine and Roger, our three seniors at the luncheon, and was very complimentary of them. Made some funny remarks.
All in all, a very good meeting. Looking forward to the next one, whenever it is.04-cheers
