LSU sucks. No excuse. Simmons is great, but had an off night by his standards...

I'm a little surprised at how poorly Kentucky has played. They will probably get better but they aren't a top 10 team.

KY doesn't have their dominant front court this year. Poythress isn't elite and Skal has struggled more than anyone imagined. This team is a lot different than Cal's other KY teams. We'll see how they adapt.

Can't coach. Only wins by having better talent. This is what happens when you over pay for Memphis players.

Except for the fact that Calipari went to Sweet 16s with teams that didn't have overbearing talent - one at UMass for sure and the Memphis teams before Rose with no NBA players, at least none that stuck in the league.

Right. Cal went 30-5 and to the Sweet 16 at UMass before Marcus Camby ever set foot on campus.

He went to the Elite 8 at Memphis with exactly zero first round draft choices on the roster. Dorsey and CDR were the only two fringe NBA players on the team and CDR is out of the league and Dorsey hardly gets off Houston's bench. Hell, he went to the Elite 8 with Willie Kemp and Andre Allen splitting point guard duty.

But he can't coach.

LMAO

He's gone and he is not coming back.

Those who still worship the man and those who are still bitter need to move on with their lives.

We are almost 7 full years removed now. Move on people. Move on.

Well CDR was a 1st team All American. Dorsey fit Cal's teams great. He didn't care about scoring

Otherwise silly to say that Cal can't coach. Not a great floor strategist but he is really good and getting players to play hard and buy into the team for the most part.

CDR was a first team AA as a junior. One of those E8 teams, CDR was only a FR. Still pretty good player, but nowhere near what he would become.

Not a fan of Cal ( the personal side ) even when he was at Memphis. But to say he can't coach is beyond crazy. Is he the best coach around? No. But he is light years better than who is sitting in the seat now in every aspect of the position. He is not just signing 5 star recruits and rolling the ball out. Guy knows what he is doing.

We did have Shawne Williams. Cal is the best coach I have ever witnessed

Cal never won anything in CUSA until Louisville and Cincinnati left. Then he feasted on bottom feeders. Was not a year he won the title which he was not projected to win the title. Damn this revisionist history has to stop.

Kirk would have wiped the floor with Cal with similar talent.

WOW talk about revisionist history.

Cal's team won a total of 1 NCAA game until the Laurinburg Prep class came in. First five years made it to NCAA just twice and won only ONE game. He never actually won here until he began landing the talent thanks to WWW.

Reality is Pastner not only went to MORE NCAA tournaments during his first five years. He actually won MORE tournament games than Cal in of their first five years.

Cal NEVER won CUSA until Louisville and Cincinnati left and and only won ONE game the tournament before the Laurinburg prep team arrived.
