Could this possibly be a long term gig for Coach Beard?
Sure. He will have offers to move on, but those are usually to a program that is down, and those programs are not very patient if you're not winning big. Whereas here, he could build his own "Gonzaga" type program and assuming he's successful, which I think he will be, he could stay here for years. But maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part. So let's just win big this year, and let the chips fall where they may!04-cheers

You really think "One and Done"? That's a very short tenure. I hope you're wrong, but if you're right, it means we had a great season.

This program has been down for years, and he's done a super job of putting the puzzle together to have a good year. Looking forward to seeing what he's capable of bringing in when he has a whole year to evaluate talent.

Well, he's signed two so far for this next season. They both look like good fits for this program. Still more to come.

If we don't go to the Dance, he might be back. If we do, he's gone.

I knew the bible tells us many things, but I never knew it had anything to do with whether Coach Beard will be here a long time or not. Well, I learn something new every day. Unfortunately I forget what I learned yesterday!

Coaches can take a marginal step up or a big leap up. The big leaps usually come after wins in the Dance, and those are hard to resist because there is BIG money attached to them. The incremental steps can come after one or more good years, and Coach might think it is worth his while to stay in place for a while even if he does get some opportunities. Hope so. A lot depends on the money we can come up with, and how well he likes it here.

Coach McKillop has been at Davidson for a long time, and he has been past the first round of the Dance three times, and to the Elite Eight once. He has had six years of 25 wins or more - but he is still at Davidson. I hope that is what happens in Little Rock.

Well, that means we will never go, since there is no book of Hezekiah. I hope that was a typo.

So am I. No way he leaves after one season. It is highly doubtful that a big time program would take him after one year of DI success although it has happened before- Stan Heath (subsequently fired at Arkansas); Little Ricky- not sure how successful he has been at Minnesota.

I've heard quite a few people say it would be fine if Coach Beard left after one season because it would mean we had a great year. What are the odds of Chasse striking gold 2 years in a row? As much as I like Chasse, I don't know that they would be very high. I hope Coach Beard believes he is just beginning to lay the ground work for a successful run at Little Rock.
