Was nice to see Tudor full. Hopefully a sign of things to come.

Am partially deaf now though.

RE: Rice vs St Thomas
Right. Rice was 21-53 overall and 4-25 from 3 point range, making them 17-28 from within the arc. Slightly under 1/2 of their shots were 3 pointers (that goes along with 13 offensive rebounds). It would be interesting to know how many of those rebounds were off of 3 point shots versus 2 point shots, and how many shots (and what kind) resulted from the rebound. The shot of choice appears to be the three 2/3-3/4 of the time.

Partially due to only wearing one ear plug?

Yes-my hearing aid is now on order, but wasn't it a great experience? Kudos to Shu and the whole revenue and marketing team. Autry (um err Tudor) can just be unbeliebvable when full. The kids singing and dancing was just hilarious. The refs early were laughing and grinning. And Marquez (spelling?) was singing and laughing during warmups. Frankly it is a never miss.

On other fronts, Marcus Jackson and Chad Lott barely needed the crutches, so maybe there is some hope for recovery. However Chad put down his crutches, pulled up his sweats on the leg with the knee brace and was dancing with Sammy and Santa during one song along with his music video. Massive knee brace.

The team was clearly rusty, but there are some skills there which once they get rolling....

Evans had 32. That might be a freshman Rice record. He's probably also among the national freshmen scoring leaders.

After today's game, he's tied for 35th in the nation in scoring. Not sure where he ranks amongst freshman, but it's gotta be top 5 I think. Hopefully he sticks around!

I asked around since I hadn't heard anything new on here and they've started walking in therapy using the alter G device.

There were no freshman averaging 19.6 ppg as of last night - and I think only 2 sophomores above him. Online stats in most places haven't been updated for today's results yet. Egor was averaging more per game before today's game, so there's going to be some volatility in the ranking.

Dang, I really wish I had one of those for my rehab this summer. Wishing them a speedy and complete recovery.

Apparently ya'll are correct, as of before the St. Thomas game:
Evans One of Top Freshmen
•Not only is Marcus Evans making a name for himself in Conference USA, but he is proving to be one of the top freshmen nationally.
•The guard’s 18.2 points is the third-best among all freshmen in the nation.
• Below is the list of the top freshmen scorers in the country this year:
1. Ben Simmons, LSU 19.0
2. Malik Beasley, Florida State 18.3
3. Marcus Evans, Rice 18.2
4. Jordon Varnado, Troy 17.9
5. Chris Clemons, Campbell 17.1

And started ahead of Letcher-Ellis on his HS team causing a lack of playing/experience. Quez had a solid game rebounding yesterday and I only see it getting better.

Quez reminds me of Michael Harris-you can just see the potential-and he has the two inches that Michael really needed. Frankly, all of the freshmen look fantastic.

The pictures of all the kids that is in the online Chronicle are good and good PR. I agree that this first game back event needs to stay.

Shu looked like he was directing the troops on Omaha Beach when we arrived and Jana and her staff were all over the place making sure things went smoothly. The only glitch apparently was the meals for the kids (everyone got sandwiches, chips, and water) arrived late forcing a mad scramble to get them into Tudor.

A lot of the groups arrived early enough to take a walk through campus before the game. Everyone of the kids was well behaved and the teachers and chaperons did a great job with their groups.

Yesterday's game was more of a struggle than it should have been largely because Egor had his worst game (by far) this season -- both in scoring and rebounding. I think he was just 1 - 9 from three point range, and had just 4 rebounds. Consequently, we had just one legitimate scoring option in Evans.

Anything below 16 wins will be a big disappointment.

CUSA RPI is now 20 out of 33 conferences, behind such heavy weights as the Sun Belt, Southern, Big West, Summit....etc.

AAC is 9, MWC is 10.

I actually thought the defense performed pretty well yesterday. Of course, they weren't being stressed too much by the opponent, but still they did some good things.

Offense was a struggle. Ball movement, penetration, movement away from the ball were all bad. And shooting 3's and FT's both sucked.
