Charlotte has worked very hard to get back to this point (starting up football). I know someone in their athletic department, and I am rooting for Charlotte to get back up soon. They are a great addition, and if they start to build a pulse, that stadium can easily be expanded.
Basketball is down for all of us right now, and we should just live with the reality we are a one bid league. Besides, they are a founding member of this conference, something we can't say...
Sounds like you're a bit biased. No true Marshall fan would be rooting for a conference mate much like that. At least in my experience with Marshall supporters they wouldn't.

When we invited Charlotte a lot of us were asking why. Stating there was no reason to invite a start up football program.
The argument was that Charlotte has a great basketball program and was going to add to our conference in that aspect.
Well they are 1-8 with an RPI of 235.
Marshall is 3-6 with a current RPI of 251 (hasn't updated with our win last night.)
So they are in the same ball park as our crappy basketball program....aka, they are crappy in basketball.
So I will ask once again....what exactly do they bring to the conference table?
Could've had App State and still had the Charlotte market as well as the triad and as far up to Burlington. Sad.

Being extremely close to the Marshall situation, I also know that we had a lot of problems going on at our school during this time.
The difference is that our success immediately before joining CUSA was so good that it kind of made up for our bad years.
But yes, being objective and not getting into all the problems Marshall had going on, that would be a fair statement.
So it took Marshall 8 years even with their former success to actually win. Correct? Well, not really...it also took schools leaving. Correct?
So now you want UNCC (No disrespect intended I called them that since Cornbread Maxwell took them to a F4) to win in their 3rd year of rejoining CUSA. Correct?
Yet UNCC went to the NCAA Tourney 7 out of the 10 years they were in CUSA before joining the A10.
So let me get this straight...
Marshall earned it taking 8 years and 4 or 5 of the top schools leaving before they actually won. They earned this by the former success...correct?
Yet you don't think UNCC deserves the same when their former success came in the same conference they are rejoining and that success was being ranked 3 years and making 7 out of 10 NCAA Tourneys?
OK!
NO!
I am saying they should have never been invited. They are obviously in over their heads, especially when it comes to football.
They were invited for basketball strength, but they are as bad as we are right now.
In over our heads? While we were over matched at times, we were a couple of breaks away from 5-7 and 3-5 in the conference.
We held half times leads in four games (and we tied in another one), held three teams scoreless at halftime...all with essentially the same team from last year. We simply didn't have enough depth to compete. That will change.
As for basketball, how many games has Marshall won in the dance in their schools history?
Charlotte lost the equivalent of three recruiting classes last year. We brought back only 3 players who logged minutes last season. But Charlotte has always been able to get players, it's been coaching that has held us back. We now think we have a good one.
This conference has much bigger problems than Charlotte's membership.

Yeah I laugh too at 2015. Tourney, Bowl and and buying a MLB ballpark. Hilarious!
C-USA is up at the moment. They aren't up far enough however. If Georgia State can improve on this season and start out hot, (Much like App from last year to this season), and App, Arkansas State, and Southern hold serve. And Troy continues to trend in the right direction, C-USA will overtake the bottom of the G-5 totem poll
P.S. I don't consider the AAC a G5 conference. I don't care how the money is split up or how the media views them, the schools in the AAC are far more similar to schools in say, the Big 12 versus schools in the Sun Belt or MAC.
If my aunt had balls she would be my uncle.
Having said that, I wish App St and Ga Southern had been added to CUSA.
Sun Belt will never pass CUSA.
How many sun belt teams have been ranked in football? This year or last year.

No, you were much farther away than that. Let's be honest.
Did you watch any of our games other than against USM? We lost to ODU and UTSA by a FG, so 4 wins isn't a crazy thought. We weren't even close to MT, USM, Marshall, or Kentucky but we were competitive with the bottom of the league which no one said was possible in year 3.

To what? You? CUSA?
I.dont.care.
Come next Fall we will enroll 56k students and be well on our way to developing the Turner Field property. Football has turned the corner. Basketball is set. I could care less who sees us as attractive. Hell, Marshall isnt an attractive game to ANYONE in Georgia.

That's not what Georgia Southern fans say on your board.

Looks like the joke is on the rest of us. So now we get stuck with their football program and a bad basketball program.

No doubt that they COULD end up being a great addition, but please tell me what they are currently bringing to the table.
I believe you have your answers now.

I am happy to have you guys aboard. I just really hope your football can come around. Basketball will bounce back, I think. But football.... we shall see. Good luck.

Well, we had one. Some of us are still hanging around, but we haven't given people much to cheer for for about 10 years now. We've let nearly 3 full classes of students pass through school without much to get excited for. That's bad news for the future. We need to be relevant in football or basketball soon.
I went to school 05 through 09. We weren't great at basketball at that point, but there was.still excitement and enthusiasm. 7000 was a normal crowd. Games were fun. Now halton has a terrible atmosphere.
It's sad. I cannot wait until we have a new AD. I'm just afraid we choose another low excitement person that continues the trend of treating all sports equally.
I went to WKU at the same time '05-'09, which happened to be during our Sweet 16 run. But now, in the Harper years, post K-Mac years, the same thing: Diddle's empty, nobody cares, it seems like. I hope last night's game was a turning point, for the same reasons you mentioned. I could be totally misreading the situation since I'm hundreds of miles away right now, but I don't think I am
