AAC Basketball Attendance thru 12/11/15
Almost every team sees an uptick in attendance during conf play, though for some teams that get to host a big non-conf games, some of those games are their highest attended.

Here's an early look at AAC non-conf announced attendance as of now:

1) Memphis 11,585
2) UCONN 8.992
3) Cinci 7,277*
4) SMU 6,911
5) Tulsa 4,471
6) UCF 4,460
7) ECU 4,396
8) Temple 4,370
9) USF 3,061
10) Houston 2,156
11) Tulane 1,417
---------------------------
Ave: 5,295

*AAC Cinci stats are incorrect so actual figure from Cinci Athletics noted here (which would also change ave attendance for the conf to 5,509.)

A lot of schools will probably take hit to attendance while students leave campus for christmas break. I know most finals for UCF were last week but the last day is Tuesday.

I was using stats from AAC which have this for Cinci's average so far this year:

http://theamerican.org/custompages/stats...NFLDRS.HTM

Cincinnati 6 home games: 32,538 total attendance: Average 5,423

For some reason, those figures don't match up to Cinci's own stat's on their own athletic website:
http://www.gobearcats.com/sports/m-baskb...mcume.html

6 homes games: 43,663 total attendance: Average 7,277

Good point...as some schools don't draw local students during break as compared to others (i.e. so few of UCF's 30,000 plus local students ever attend hoop games during school breaks).

In box scores, the Butler game attendance was reported as N/A (meaning it was zero according to The American site).

The actual attendance for Butler was 11,125... which lines up with figures on the UC site.

awful.

As noted, most team's attendance goes up in conf play...and even now, some teams are not that far off from their 2014-2015 average totals noted above:

Tulsa's attendance will rise as we get into conference play, especially if we win the next 3 games.

That is as probably not a bad addition because in all honestly, the women's team at UCONN is more popular than the men.

That is as probably not a bad addition because in all honestly, the women's team at UCONN is more popular than the men.

UCONN Women Home Opponents: Nebraska, Kansas State, #3 Notre Dame
UCONN Men Home Opponents: Maine, New Hampshire, Furman, Sacred Heart

The Women's attendance will go down when conference play begins, while the Men's attendance will go up.

We've had Delaware and Farleigh Dickinson thus far, and still have Delaware State. That's a lot of effort and money to watch ****.
We have St. Joe's tomorrow, which should be a big crowd, and still have La Salle and Villanova OOC at home.

I did not post that to be funny. I have been to a lot of functions in around Hartford. I can't tell you how many times people will begin discussing UCONN basketball and I am thinking they are talking about the men and the discussion turns into Geno and the women's team. I know about UCONN women's basketball but do not follow it and was just shocked how popular they are.

National Rank

2010 - # 8 Memphis 16,498
2011 - # 8 Memphis 16,768
2012 - #11 Memphis 16,234
2013 - #11 Memphis 16,336
2014 - #10 Memphis 16,121

This will be the first season under Pastner that we won't rank in the top 15 in attendance. Tiger fans have been extremely patient, but are finally choosing other venues for their entertainment dollar.

UConn women is big in CT no doubt I mean there's a reason why Geno gets paid over 2 million. The women fan base is totally different from the mens, they are more mature family oriented bring your grand children to the game type fan base.
So if all you heard about was UConn then I'm going assume you are a much mature person.

Honestly, I disagree. Firstly, winning at Oregon State will be a big challenge... secondly, the conference scheduled us to play two of the top teams in the league before we have students back on campus, which puts us at a pretty large disadvantage. If we end up losing the SMU game AND the Cincy game... attendance will probably be a bit down from what it should be in the conference season.

I think Tulane hired the best coach out there available by far better than any other AAC hire recently.
