This.
Texas and Oklahoma should leave to the B1G and let the small programs do as they please.
Texas and Oklahoma need to be playing big time programs, not all of these small programs that nobody even cares to watch.

Barf.
Texas would destroy the conference. Already happened twice. No thanks.
OU, not good enough research.
Nebraska ... your new rivals are Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Time for you to get used to that. You can leave behind all that Mizzou, Kansas, OU stuff behind.

It appears to me that B1G has boxed itself into the corner with its strict AAU prerequisite and geographic border test for membership. Other than Iowa State and Kansas, there are no schools in the Midwest that meet B1G criteria. In the Northeast, there are the two SUNY schools: Buffalo and Stony Brook. he only expansion route is through Virginia and that's not happening.

I could see UVA and UNC leaving for the B10. That would probably mean VPI and NCSU would head to the SEC. ACC then would panic.

I could see Gilbert Gottfried becoming President of the United States. It doesn't mean that he has the remotest of chances.

The SEC does not have a GOR and as the SEC and B1G make comparable money, and Kentucky is more of a basketball school and would meet up with one of its greatest rivals (Indiana). Is it possible that the B1G could think up something dastardly like that. For the conference I would have 4 divisions of 4 with 9 conferences games (you play 2 teams in each of the 3 divisions every other year).
East:
Penn St.
UConn
Rutgers
Maryland
North:
Ohio St.
Michigan St.
Michigan
Northwestern
South:
Indiana
Purdue
Illinois
Kentucky
West:
Minnesota
Iowa
Wisconsin
Nebraska
The two division winners with the best records advance to the CCG.
If the Big 10 really wanted 16 schools they would already have 16 schools. The issue is the Big 10 only wants to go to 16 with just a very few brands and those brands have to want to go to the Big 10. You haven't listed any of those brands.

UVA and UNC don't fit the mold of Big Ten schools. They're limited enrollment, elite liberal arts boutique schools. Basically they're the larger, public version of Duke, Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, Emory, etc.

^ Duke could probably fit in fine with the B1G due to its massive budget and aggressive athletic department. Their political/financial pull, and strong Lacrosse and Wrestling programs would be a boon what the conference wants to achieve as well (Basketball doesn't need to be mentioned here).

I don't want to any small schools in the Big Ten East. The Duke contingent many fill your arena/stadium in New Jersey but they won't travel to College Park or State College. Been there done that already.

Heck, you can't even get Maryland fans to College Park to fill the stadium.
Been there....seen that!

Kansas would work. Their research is comparable to Nebraska and Iowa.
Need to find someone in the East to balance that out, up to B1G research standards and not already taken.
As you point out, SUNY Buffalo would fit the bill ... except for athletics.
Unless MIT moves up to DI athletics, ala Stanford.

Sure we can if you're Florida State and Clemson.

It's too bad NYU doesn't have a football program. I guess we'll have to wait 10-15 years for Stony Brook, assuming the school has interest.

But it's also a very stable conference with a storied history. I'd rather have that than constantly worry about schools going in or out all the time.

Stony Brook wants FBS. Depends if they can get money raise and all that to go big time. Like I mentioned before. Have Stony Brook Vs Rutgers every year for all sports to help build up a rivalry game. But, their conference commish went full retard by saying the Big 10 can't play FCS schools.

Stony Brook would just have to build up to where they could be taken by the AAC, MAC or even Sun Belt. If they could get there then that's great for them.
Stony Brook, UMass and Buffalo should play each other more often.

If the MAC had a financial incentive to expand to 14 (which they don't under the current CFP contract), I could easily see them taking Albany and Stony Brook.

JMU and Stony Brook is more likely
