It's funy how quickly people forget Kareem Cooper.

Shawn Taggart as well.

Taggart didn't count because he was a Juco somehow.

There was a lot of buzz about some kid named Garcia Simpkins a few years ago.

I hope you are not comparing D. Lawson snd Simpkins. D Lawson is the real deal. It is evident to those who have seen him.

Dedric is without a doubt the most skilled player 6'8" plus we have had SINCE Penny. This means after Penny. I posted this last winter after seeing him up close vs #1 Oak Hill.

He can take off and dribble the floor and do a crossover and then a finger roll bucket.
He can also get a little sky hook on post up that he hasn't used much.
He can drive hard to hoop and not get bullied.
He can shoot the 3. Maybe 38-40 percent range once he settles down and improves shot selection.

No other comparably sized player since Penny could do those things. He will have ups and downs as a high school college freshman and needs to quit dominating the ball and let the O come to him. He will be a star.

Revisionists history. Shawne Williams, Sean Banks, Tyreke Evans. There is only one Anfernee Hardaway. After six games people want to claim a kid that should still be in high school an all-star.

Please read my post: "comparably sized"-AFTER PENNY!! If you knew BB or even played a little bit this would be obvious to you. But, I know a lot if college players who can't see talent also.

Reke was a 6-6 guard. Banks and Williams couldn't come close to ball handling and passing skills as Dedric.

Any comparisons to Penny is just ludicrous. I was lucky enough to be able to play on the same court as Penny, Vaughn, Exel and fellow Overton Rebel teammate Leon Mitchell a few times. Penny was hands down the best player ever to come out of Memphis. Add together the skills of all four Lawsons and you still don't have half the skill Anfernee had.

Um, pretty easy to see how they play when there's Youtube. Plus, I can view their stats and i've now seen two of the brothers' every collegiate game. Have you ever sat on the bench and watched as Penny dropped a double nickle on your team, with 25+ rebounds, more than 10 steals and almost as many assists...and all as the point guard? I have.

Some of us "old timers" have been around a long time and know a thing or two. You'd be wise to pay attention.

Some of you "old timers"? LOL! I was TOO OLD to sit on the bench to when Hardaway played. I did play against Hank McDowell in high school though. Does that qualify me as one of you "old timers"?

I'm not saying the Lawsons are better than Hardaway. I saw at least 10 games that Hardaway played in as a senior in high school. I saw every single home game he played in as a Tiger. I saw every single Great Midwest Tourney he played in. I saw every single NCAA tourney game he played. And I saw them in person. It is not fair to try to compare Lawson to Hardaway career vs. career since the Lawsons have just started. I can tell you that in my more than 50 years of watching basketball, they have the tools to be very, very good.

I played against Finch several times. Got in fight with Fred Horton in summer games at Field House. So guess I am old guy too. Hardaway is by far the most talented player who ever played at Memphis. He may not be the best due to his lack of heart that others had (Lee, Finch, Rose, etc). Dedric will be very good--to early to tell how good--but he has the skills to someday be mentioned in same breath as those previously mentioned--time will tell.

Forget who the coach is-- this teams plays hard and focused. I will let ya'll argue as to why 07-coffee3n

That is still wrong. Lorenzen & Vaughn would wipe the floor clean with Lawson.
