Risky hire, but it will certainly make UCF football fun to watch!

This is turrible!

1.) He won't be able to recruit FL'
2.) Nebraska will scoop him up in 2-3 years
3.) We'll be left with whatever system he puts in place.

RE: Oregon Offensive Coordinator Scott Frost will be UCF's new Head Coach
i actually liked dino better

last year scott was one of the hottest coaching hires out there, he was 3rd on on the coaches we wanted after herman

but we had 2 concerns,
1) chip kelly gave oregon a well oiled machine when he left with a qb already well versed in his system, does scott know how to make it from scratch (its an even bigger question this year as their first go round with their players didnt look as good)

2) he has no recruiting ties to Texas, for ucf he has no recruting ties to florida

but weirdly enough its been unofficial for 2 days that he was going to be syracuse's head coach

overall it will be a good hire depending on his coordinators
he has no florida ties but is young and energitic so he'll get alot of recruits of that and mariota/deanthony thomas

ill be honest, i would love this hire if ucf was a 6 or 7 win team, then his job is to come in and improve a team..a coach with no experience leading a ship trying to steer a team out of winless is no easy task

UCF should have been at least a 6-8 win team this year with average coaching and few injuries. There is plenty of talent on the roster. Frost probably sees that and figures that he can win 6 next year and maybe 9 or 10 the following year then parlay this into a top P5 job (Nebraska, Texas). Unfortunately UCF will be left with a new offense that only certain coaches can run.

Just because he coached at Oregon he can't recruit Florida? He can get a map and a flip phone and still do it.

Sure he can get on 24/7 or Rivals and visit 3-4 stars but recruiting is about building relationships with local coaches and finding diamonds in the rough. Plus there are a lot of cultural nuances that you have to "get". I'm sure that he can learn them but he'll be behind the eight ball. That's why Jimbo Fisher is killing Jim McElwain on the recruiting trail right now. Jimbo is from the dirty south and understands players from here. McElwain is from Montana.

We'll just promote his offensive coordinator. 04-cheers

Why can't he recruit Florida? He just needs so hire assistants with Florida ties. He's young and will relate better to young players than GOL did. Hopefully an explosive offense will recruit for itself.

Any coach that does well at an AAC school will eventually move on. That's jus the way it is.

They system that we're left with is pretty damn good. We'll just have to promote his OC or grab another Oregon OC.

If you look at his rivals page that shows the players he recruited it looks like he was assigned the tampa and bradenton area for oregon and pulled in some good recruits. There were rumors he was going to take the UF OC job up until today.

Frankly, I think Babers makes more sense for a Texas team. His recruiting background is in Texas.

UCF isn't really a complete rebuild. There is a lot of talent already in place. UCF was just really young and I think George was just burned out this year. A new staff with players with some experience should show immediate improvement next year. UCF should be fun to watch under Frost. The AAC is going to have some really fun offenses---it's going to be Big12 Lite.

I wonder what happened between Frost and Syracuse.

I know that they worried he'd go to Nebraska, so it isn't a worry unique to the AAC.

I suspect if he does well UCF will pony up like Houston did. Not worried, even if he goes.

Insider information indicates our list was 1a - Greg Schiano and 1b- Scott Frost with babers next in line. Schiano was dragging his feet probably hoping for a better offer.
