Obviously the 3-5 spots are Marshall, LATech, and MTSU and 1-2 is WKU and Southern Miss. But...

Who gets first pick on bowls from the 3-5 group? How are they ranked?

The talk here in the Boro is we are going to the Bahamas. I think its decided for us

it's based on overall positioning.. but my guess is
WKu - st. pete
USM - Dallas
Marshall - miami
La Tech - NOLA
MTSU - Bahamas

If it's Western's choice on the Fla bowls I can't see Western taking a Dec 26th bowl in St Pete over one in Miami on Dec 21st.

There was talk on our board that if Western wins we will take the Dallas bowl...I hope not, who wants to spend Christmas in Dallas.

Word is we are heading to Miami.

Its official - MT to the Bahamas Bowl, just confirmed by Stock after the game.

USM is trying to get in the Independence Bowl. I think that's where most of our fanbase has our hearts set and Indy Bowl reps like us.

One thing to keep on mind regarding bowl selections...payouts to individual teams don't matter in CUSA. Those funds are put into a pot and distributed.

I know that. I'm saying the conference has to decide which bowl not to fill and New Mexico pays lower than the others. The conference would get less money filling New Mexico.

Any chance Rice or ODU go as a 5-7 team?

Gotcha. I hope ultimately we all end up with a relatively reasonable date and travel location for our bowl lineup.

Obviously, the main appeal is who we all end up playing...

Well, it's all relative. If you sell more tickets to New Mexico than say Bahamas, for example, then the bottom line of the balance sheet might have been higher by dropping the Bahamas. It just depends on proximity and ticket sales.

Keep in mind the payout comes in the form of tickets not in the form of cash. The dollar values the bowl advertises as the payout are meaningless unless the school sells the full allotment of tickets.

I think our administration has made it clear we want the Miami Beach Bowl. If want it, it's ours.

Basically, the bowls have created a shell game. They put the onus on the schools while they get to keep all the money generated from local ticket sales, TV revenue and sponsorships.
