I believe Steph Curry and Klay Thompson both have a year of eligibility left, let's just bring them on board. If that happens the Final 4 predictions won't seem so ludicrous.

Tough loss. Reminds me of the what the team went through this time one year ago. Interested to see how they play tomorrow.

We are bad. Period. Haase needs to figure this out. No excuse

We haven't progressed from our tournament run. Basically back to the same team that we saw the majority of last year

It's way way way too early to say this because we're only 5 games into the season, but if we don't have the run through the CUSA Tournament last year, what's the conversation about Haase right now?

It doesn't take more than 5 games to tell we aren't a good basketball team right now. I believe we can get it turned around.

RE: **Game Thread- Illinois**
I'd like to see this line up start the game tomorrow:

Watts
Brown
Williams
Cokley
Lee

Sullivan comes in for either big. Mehinti's 2 points, 2 rebounds, and 3 TO's in 16 minutes doesn't cut it.

Norton spells Watts but their minutes get reversed. Nick gives up too much on defense if he going to shooting 28% from 3.

Madison and Baxter fill in depending on foul trouble or defensive match- ups.

All that said, I'm not sure line up changes are the solution. The whole team has to shake off the tentativeness, starting with William Lee, and find some way to break out of this funk.

That conversation would be centered around that 2-18 record against OOC teams with an RPI of 150 or better that someone threw out here earlier in this thread. My whole opinion changed on Haase when I saw that record.

Lee seems to be slowly coming around and his defense makes him a must start, anyway...

Hence the incredulous look on Haase's face when Watts gave him the raise.

It's interesting because before that run last year folks were pretty divided about him. I like him and I have faith that he's a good coach, but similar to last years team he's had one good week in the 3 plus years he's been here.

RE: **Game Thread- Illinois**
Right now team is playing about 1/4 of their potential. Hopefully by end of conference play, they will be playing up to 1/3-1/2 of our potential. Then as CUSA play goes on, by the end of the season we should be playing up to our full potential, and cut the nets down at BJCC again. After that, knock off a 5 seed (if we can land a 12 seed) and see how long we can play at our full potential.

So I guess some here wants to already start to run Haase off and let their favorite athletic director and president pick the next coach.

Some of you are Grade A idiots.

I may be an idiot, but I know winning 10% of your games against decent OOC teams isn't good. I'm not ready to run off Haase just yet, but if this play continues the rest of the year, and he can't win the C-USA Tourney, that'll change.

I dont think anyone said that, MB. The question I originally posed was for conversational purposes, not because I believe Haase being removed should even be a point of consideration. Like I said, I have faith that Haase is a good coach and he's the right coach for this team.

When this team starts clicking, and we do have another impressive March, Hasse probably will be gone. So some of you will get what you want.

Coach Hasse has got to figure out how best to use the talent he has collected. If he keeps insisting that our skinny & fast big men are going to be bruisers in the paint, it is going to be a long season.

Just doesn't make sense why this team isn't clicking. Same players except no CJ Washington and we have Dirk Williams. Plus everyone is a year older. I hope it starts coming together tomorrow.

We've slept walk through a pretty easy non conference schedule so far. Barring a miracle, we are playing to win the CUSA tournament. I'll see how the team and coach Haase improve. Suffice it to say, there is a ton of room for improvement.. I am not indicting coach Haase , but outside of a nice run at the end of last year, he haasen't done much. Who knows where it goes from here? I'm very disappointed
