U albany just played a division 3 team here in ny (oneonta st.). The coach of Albany said due to the fact they had some exempt tournaments they could schedule extra games and those games were added late. So the only schools he could get were smaller schools. I m assuming that happened here as well.

I actually think it is okay to play EMU. A local school that brings with it local interest. Nothing wrong with that by supporting the local schools.

It also helps give the team a little confidence if they can dominate.

I swear everytime I pull up the game we look AWFUL and EMU goes on a 10-0 run. So im out until the final score

Was hoping for a 100-50, 90-45 type game. 23 pts is a little close for comfort to a non schollie team DIII team. Gotta play some better D.

There was nothing to be gained by this game. You don't get better by playing weaker teams.

EMU shot 47% for the game and 42% from three point land. That's some pretty good numbers which should be cause for concern. If the only goal was to play everyone and work on offensive plays, well then we succeeded.

EMU has been asking for a game for years. It's like when your little brother bugs you every week to play. Eventually you say yes if you'll leave me alone. And then you clobber him.
As to the the value of the game, i don't know what nuggets are going for these days, but there is a little value there.

I don't think this would look good any year where we might be considered for an at large tourney bid. It's bad policy to play a D-III. Seems we should be able to find some weak D1 teams to plug in if needed, or at least a D-II. This is at best a start the year off "scrimmage game", not something we should play on the record.

In a weird way maybe the game was at the right time- Dukes are struggling after what looked to be a solid start to the season (on the road against two quality teams). I think the only thing the game helps with is to give the team some confidence (although the players probably realize given the competition level its false confidence) and it was probably good for them mentally to shoot the ball well at the Convo in a game situation after struggling all weekend to do so. Now they can sit down for their Thanksgiving and get ready for Marshall- who took a beating to Morehead State tonight and doesn't look very good either.
