RE: Official JSU game thread
I'll never have any ill will towards Mike Anderson. I'm sure he came here with the intention of using UAB as a stepping stone, which he did. But while he was at UAB he worked hard and brought an exciting brand of basketball to the south side. I wouldnt begrudge Haase if he did the same thing, as long as we have the sustained success that we had under Anderson.

All those listed were Anderson recruits; Wen Mukubu followed Anderson here from Arkansas. Anderson had two new recruits on tap when Missouri clicked "Buy it now": Riley, who was released and went to bammer (promptly gaining a star) and Tiller who was released and followed Anderson to Missouri. There were whispers at the time that Anderson told his nephew, Carroll, not to transfer here but to wait until he got a better job.
My season tix at the time were the row behind the Anderson family, and my memories regarding the departure are therefore much less fond than those of others. But Davis didn't win me over either, by saying on Day One that he needed to "teach (Anderson's players) how to play basketball." By which I assume he meant pass it around the perimeter for 32 seconds, then make a wild charge toward the basket and fling the ball into the stands.
I meant of the new guys. Those guys were all in place at the time if I'm not mistaken.

I thought Dirk looks lost on D a lot of the time, that awesome three point block notwithstanding. More than once I saw JSU take a wide open shot while he was scrambling from somewhere else to get there.
That said, I'd like to see more of him, because he seems to be someone who'll shoot the damn ball while others can't/won't pull the trigger.

Haase inherited:
Swing, rob, purify, Taylor, Tyler, hoopy, asw, moton. He took over in the spring, so not much recruiting time there.
He got Rucker, faz, jones- all Davis recruits if I ever saw a Davis recruit.
You really don't call that a train wreck? Who is the star there? Who are the above average players?

Nope not a train wreck. Those guys Davis left were decent. They had to adjust to a new style of play so again that does not make them a trainwreck. When Anderson left UAB, seven seniors also graduated that year.
I'm not going to sit here and bash former players. But if you can't see a difference between those guys and what we had before and after, I don't know what to tell you. I give Haase credit for not running them off, but I won't fault him for having those guys on his roster. So far he has made very few roster mistakes, and when he has, those guys have been out the door pretty quickly.

As long as Haase's brother doesn't make it a point to tell me that I graduated three times from a dungheap that doesn't deserve his Glorious Presence, sure.

Ah. Yes, you're right. None of the incoming Anderson recruits stayed; everyone new was a Davis signing (don't recall who they were but think it included the point guard with 12 children by 14 different women).

I always thought Haase should've kept one or two commits from Davis staff. Swing was the star average more points than any Blazer not named Cokley and these four games. Heck Swing was a three and a averaged more points here than Rob. Out of the rest J. Tyler was one of the best pure scorers I've ever seen around here. Still confused about Ovie and Herb leaving maybe they didn't want to play team ball. I also get it, you get recruited by a named final four coach, to end up playing for a college jv coach could be hard. Above average players Purifoy and Hoopy he never got the chance here. There was KC Whitaker too.
As far as what Davis inherited Wen was ok, Paul wasn't PD3 yet, Holmes pure effort and energy. Gibbs streak shooter, Lo Kinnard finding his way also. He is who HaHa Lee reminds me of.

We wouldn't have gone to the Final Four with Jerome Harris, but we could say we did.

RE: Official JSU game thread
Lol, never considered him. BTW it was Jones and Golden a backcourt that would be seniors now. Also wouldn't thrown 2016 recruiting off as we signed two guards. Now as for Golden legal troubles ( I'm sure someone will point out then act as if he doesn't have his own transgressions) who's to say it would've happened here.
