Steve Jobs, beloved son of a Syrian Muslim refugee
Like your personal computer and Apple products? Thank a Syrian.

[Image: quote-Steve-Jobs-i-want-to-put-a-ding-in...1447723463]

Steve Jobs was actually the son of a Syrian Muslim immigrant, who coincidentally was a Syrian political refugee. Sadly, Steve's maternal grandfather was a bigot who refused to allow his daughter to marry a Syrian Muslim, so she had to give the genius who was to change the world up for adoption.

We’ve been here before (fear of the immigrant), but now we have a particularly toxic mix...Fear plus right wing politicians stoking that fear plus a 24 hour media machine broadcasting those very fears to "America the Brave." Many people have pointed out the hypocrisy of the right. After 9/11 we renamed our national potato “freedom fries” in disgust at the French...who rightly argued that Iraq was a mistake and a potential quagmire that would only produce more terrorists. Who knew?

We also have more gun deaths every year (every month actually) than terrorist attacks, which they accept with a yawn and a shrug.

We all know what Jesus (the middle eastern savior) would have done, but that’s past history, right Rupert?

In listening to radio interviews today, I was struck by the tone of the French people who were interviewed (aside from Marine Le Pen, of course). “We are not afraid” they said.

America? Be afraid, be very afraid. The right wing needs your fear because the demographics are against them.

RE: Steve Jobs, beloved son of a Syrian Muslim refugee
"Schieble gave birth to Jobs on February 24, 1955, in San Francisco, and chose an adoptive couple for him that was "Catholic, well-educated, and wealthy."[13] However, the couple changed their mind and decided to adopt a girl instead.[13] When the baby boy was then placed with the Bay Area blue collar couple Paul and Clara Jobs, neither of whom had a college education, Schieble refused to sign the adoption papers.[2] She then took the matter to court, attempting to have her baby placed with a different family[13] and only consented to releasing the baby to Paul and Clara after they promised that he would attend college.[2] When Jobs was in high school, Clara admitted to his then-girlfriend, 17-year-old Chrisann Brennan, that she "was too frightened to love [Steve] for the first six months of his life ... I was scared they were going to take him away from me. Even after we won the case, Steve was so difficult a child that by the time he was two I felt we had made a mistake. I wanted to return him."[13] When Chrisann shared this comment with Jobs, he stated that he was aware of it[13] and would later say that he was deeply loved and indulged by Paul and Clara.[14] Many years later, Jobs's wife Laurene also noted that "he felt he had been really blessed by having the two of them as parents."[14] Jobs would become upset when Paul and Clara were referred to as "adoptive parents" as they "were my parents 1,000%."[2] With regard to his biological parents, Jobs referred to them as "my sperm and egg bank. That's not harsh, it's just the way it was, a sperm bank thing, nothing more."[2] Jandali has also stated that "I really am not his dad. Mr. and Mrs. Jobs are, as they raised him. And I don't want to take their place."[12]

His biological syrian father had no influence on Steve Jobs whatsoever... Also, kind of ironic that they wanted a Catholic family to adopt him. 07-coffee3

Syria 1950's, BTW Max there were tons of Christians in place like Syria and Lebanon, until the radicals jihadists took over in the 70's.

Lebanon, Beirut was like part Paris part Miami. But the wars started in the 70's.
Hard line jihadists and sharia took hold.

I have 2 good Syrian friends, Christians, both engineers. Been here since the 80's. They don't want a bunch of Muslim refugees coming over. ISIS said they will sneak terrorists into the West using the refugee crisis.

I think it's reasonable to assume that the majority of the Syrian refugees will go on to invent world-altering products and found multi-billion dollar companies. Good point, Max!

Everything I have ever read states that his biological father wad a student at UW-Madison and knocked up a Catholic girl. Do you have any proof that he was indeed a Syrian refugee?

I hate apple products and think Jobs was a sorry excuse for a use of human flesh.

That has nothing to do with his heritage.

I recall from reading the Isaacson bio that his dad was a college student from abroad. I don't recall which country but Syria was probably correct. I thought he and his dad did get together on occasion when Jobs was grown up. I did't see the movie.

If we are going to make a new thread for every immigrant who made good in America, it will get pretty crowded around here.
