Rather than renovating, tearing down Robertson and building TDECU was obviously the right decision. I wonder why we chose to renovate Hofheinz instead of building new.

Hoffeinz has so much history. It was cheaper to gut the SMU and tcu stadiums then completely rebuild. Saves total demolition if the bones are still good

$128M football stadium opened in 2014
$25M basketball practice facility opening in 3 weeks
$60M Hofheinz renovation opening in 2018
$10M in baseball stadium improvements 2013-2016

Wake me up the next time Memphis spends $220M+ on its athletic facilities in five years.

The next project is Herman's indoor football facilty which will cost $30M give or take.

I wish we had a mega fanbase like Memphis. II really do. Please keep the stadium **** talk to a minimum if the city taxpayers build an arena, for a team other than yours, to occupy.

I actually felt sorry for Memphis this weekend, when they had to play in a packed new OCS in Houston and lose like they did... Since they haven't been able to secure their own OCS, and keep losing to the Coogs.

Because the school makes more money owning its own facility on campus, than leasing an off-campus facility. That money goes to owners of FedEx Arena; not UM. You have the same problem with the Liberty bowl. Your school is not making any money on the facilities.

I haven't been by the Liberty Bowl in many years, but I seem to recall the stadium being pretty close to the University of Memphis. With the growth of these schools in these neighborhoods the stadium might actually be on campus these days.

Hopefully something is done to the exterior. That is ugly.

IDK, Hofienz hasn't had much history since Phi Slama Jama (which in and of itself is enough reason to save it for me).

But I do love the low roof. Some people hate it but it traps noise and gives Hofienz a unique and intimate look.

The city is still trying to decide what to do with the fairgrounds. I think it would be perfect for a west campus and have all the athletic facilities. Renovate the Coliseum and have an on campus arena right next to the Liberty Bowl.

I have no idea where the money is coming from. Consistently we get the least amount of funds in this conference and are spending the most. Must just be a double or nothing effort by the admin.
