On to Oklahoma
First conference game of the year.

Maybe some day. For now, CJP has his chance to show guys like me that I am dead wrong, that he is not only equipped to coach basketball but to win big games against top flight teams. I hope he does just this, beats Oklahoma and shuts me up.

But the truth is, he doesn't even have to do that. If our young team plays great and loses by 1 in a long second shot, that will show tremendous progress. If he pulls all the right strings and the shots just don't go in, that's not his fault. So we will see. At the end of the day nothing we say here matters, what matters is what happens on the court.

Oklahoma will be a very tough game. They are loaded, and Lon Kruger is just a great coach. Good luck Tigers.

I agree, but I am really curious to see how we play against somebody this good.

I am expecting a 20+ point loss, but hope I am wrong. With all of our freshman playing that are playing big roles, I just dont see how we'll be ready for a team this good. Hopefully, we will be shooting well and can keep it close and have a chance to win.

I'm expecting the same. A loss by less than 5 will show a lot of promise for the team, IMO.

We won't and we can't --- anything close IMO is a 'win' for the future of this team. Just be respectable 04-bow

That's me. I just want some evidence that we are moving forward, a hard-played close game would be very encouraging.

The game will be close, by my estimation. Oklahoma hasn't played a game yet (aside from exhibition) and the game is in our house. We'll have the length to bother them on the defensive end. Neither is a great shooting team, so it's going to be a low scoring affair. We'll keep it close.

It is certainly a cliché but it's going to come down to making some shots particularly from outside.

Possibly winning the rebound battle moreso. I think we'll shoot around 20% from outside, they won't shoot much better, so limit them to one shot per trip and try to edge out some second chance points on the other end. It's going to be a grind.

Yeah, I wasn't really sure if we weren't rebounding the ball well against So Miss or because they missed 40 shots. There were a lot of long rebounds but we got a little lazy in the 2nd half rebounding once the outcome was clear.

Seemed a lot of lazziness after we got up by 29 points.

Fully expect this to go as all the other highly ranked tough games at the start of the year has gone these past few years. Hope I am wrong but yeah.

I just noticed that OU hasn't played a game yet this season. May be a good chance here.

I'm just hoping for two things. One, that people actually show up to the damn game so it doesn't look embarrassing on national TV. Two, that we stay within about 12 while looking decent the entire time.

Yep rebounding will be the key. I wonder how fast Josh brings in Burrell. Hopefully early

I'm talking about on the defensive rebounding. We got a little sloppy and let them grab a ton of offensive boards in the second half. The defense was great other than that.

Half court offense, even when USM played man, was not good. That's just something we'll have to live with under Pastner.
