Well.... that is interesting...
That was very interesting. If App was trying to steal signals, it would explain why their defense struggled so much against the tempo of AState and Troy.
I mean, I can see Troy going Tempo to surprise you, because that's a new offense, but anyone whose watched an ounce of film on us the last 2 years would know we were going to play fast, and it's strange that App never really seemed to adjust their defense accordingly.

Did you watch the game?
Yep. Sat on the 50 yard line as always. App had 305 yards in the first half compared to 125 for stAte. Until the drive to get a FG just before half you had around 55 yards. By that time our O had started to slow after our line was out of sorts, and from then on it was all stAte. The D got tired from having no offensive support and the up tempo of the Red Wolves. The game changed after Champan went down plain and simple.
App doesn't convert that Hail Mary from the punter the game is probably over in the 1st half. That play had about a 10% chance of success and App got lucky it was completed and lucky they didn't call the awful push off by the receiver.
That "Hail Mary" with "about a 10% chance of success" was thrown by a former QB to our best WR being covered by someone several inches shorter. We have run several fakes punts & FG's this year and every one has been successful. I feel certain the staff saw on tape we would have a favorable match up. The kids executed the play perfectly. It's no different than throwing to your best WR in one on one coverage and letting him make a play on the ball. I've watched the replay and there was no
"awful push off" on the receivers part. Take off your blue colored glasses and look at things objectively for a change.
One of the best fakes I've seen. Caught us totally unawares, which is funny since we have the reputation of pulling stupid fakes deep in our own territory.

Can your punter come in on passing downs for my eagles? We could use his arm. :D

The only problem is App made two big mistakes in the first half that kept it closer than it should have been at the half. Now the Red Wolves completely owned the 2nd half no doubt, but it would have been interesting too see how the game would have ended without the two fumbles. Basically it was two even teams, but one made mistakes while the other didnt. Oh well, good game stAte enjoy the GoDaddy Bowl as y'all should have no trouble winning out.
App has a good team although apparently has some depth problems...however, I don't think the teams were necessarily even steven..stAte had more total yards, more first downs, more rushing yards, ran more plays, greater time of possession, zero fumbles to App's 4, 2 take aways to 0...that's leading in a lot of really important categories. Yes, stAtes defense kept us in the game in the first half but WAY too many people discount that and just look at the offensive stats...I mean, defense is half the game right?
App will be a very good team for years...we all need to keep in mind that they've only been at the FBS level for 2 years which means they are just now catching up with the rest of us in the number of scholarship players on their roster...that makes a difference...might explain some of their current depth issues...and of course GaSo is also just getting up to speed on schollies

Great play call. The push off I can deal with, but APP #43 being 10 yds down the field shouldve negated it. The guy was so far down the field he actually threw a block right beside the WR before he went down....

Troy is slaughtering ULM. Wyoming is getting crushed by freaking Colorado State. I think it's fair to say App wasn't as good as us App fans wanted to believe. Apparently SOS does carry some weight. Ark State lost to a bunch of P5 teams. They are the better ball team, plain and simple. And showed it on Thursday.

And Georgia State is beating ULL, and Georgia Southern is still 6-2. Arkansas State is the better team, but it has nothing to do with what Wyoming or ULM are doing. We killed a lot of teams.
Everyone knew our schedule was weak before today.

Agree. And I know I'm just stating the obvious. But it still seems to be more apparent than before this week.

Transitory property doesnt work in football. Your plain and simple is my not so fast.
We lost Thursday. But turnovers directly led to 14 stAte points that's a 21-3 lead that evaporates because of turnovers. And losing Chapman in the second quarter on an already patched line seriously hurt our ability to keep up in the second half. I was shocked that we didn't have anyone that could snap the ball consistently. It led to two horrendous botched snaps and numerous high and low snaps that killed timing.
Our issue is depth. We don't have enough guys for a full FBS season, and right now, we are running low. The trenches are what it's about in FBS. We don't have enough guys yet. It doesn't make us a bad team. It makes us brand new FBS team. We may still go 10-2 this year. Schedule or not, that's pretty damn good for a team in its first year of bowl eligibility.

Yeah, that's an accusation that shouldn't be thrown around. It's true that AppState likes to look at the sidelines and get the play after our coaches read the offensive play formation. I'm also sure they have a pretty good idea about the likely plays that a team runs about of a given formation. But stealing calls? That's a pretty big leap.

I think what he was intimating was that you guys were waiting for our signals before you made your signal.
I'd be more alarmed on our end if you were able to steal signals, that would mean we would need to change all of them.

It would explain a lot though.
I will say this, if somebody can steal our signs then I'm not going to be jumping up and down mad about it. Because if so, we should have had a better system.
There was a rumored instance of where Ole Miss was stealing Arkansas signs one time because Houston Nutt didn't change them up much....if at all and that even some Ole Miss fans had figured it out. Was that cheating? I just can't get that worked up about it.

That's pretty ridiculous statement did I miss the guy with binoculars on app side or something . Apps are better than a state and it showed in the first half we just have depth issues. I will say this a state did look bigger and more athletic than we did.

We're just remarkable one dimensional right now. Going back and watching the game again, your guys keyed on certain things we did that indicated play/direction since they really didn't have to respect our passing game.
I wouldn't call us a great team, but I wouldn't call us a bad team right now either.
Plus, ya'll put something in the air in Boone whenever we come to town that makes us forget what a football is.
