Am told by multiple sources Steve Sarkisian showed up in no condition to work today & #USC brass knows he needs serious help.

Somewhere Ed Orgeron is shaking his head.

I think he's coaching at LSU now. He's a Louisiana native.

really sad. the only part of the ESPN article i don't like is saying that he's hit rock bottom. coming from a family that has been devastated by addiction, he's nowhere near rock bottom. i hope he doesn't have to get there

Is this season unique in the number of "interim FBHCs" now on the job at FB5 schools around the nation?

We now see interim FBHCs at UNT, ILL, USC (east), USC (west) and we are not past midseason yet. Did I miss anyone?

Yeah, he's definitely not at rock bottom, but I get they're trying to frame it in the context that he had to have something big happen to him to make him realize that he really needed to make a change. Getting to the point where he couldn't function in his job and embarrassing himself to such a degree might be what it took for him to realize that he was killing himself.

I'm not absolving him of responsibility, but the people around him failed him to some degree. Friends and family aside, Haden had to know. If he didn't already know from his dealings with him, then he had to get something from the vetting. If that wasn't the case then the event was reddest flag you could get.

Haden might not be much further behind as he's not been stellar in dealing w/ USC problems in his time as AD or his seat has at least gotten warmer.

Haden has to be gone also. They don't want him choosing Sark's replacement, and his Enfield hire isn't looking great either.

I get Haden is a legend and all that stuff, but I'd let him move on. I mean, none of his decisions really made sense to me at all. All of his moves speak of someone too blinded by the success of the past. Picking up Lane after he was wrecking professional and college programs alike was a pretty big mistake. Passing on Oregron without giving him a real chance wasn't the wisest thing to do. Now, he's left standing in the aftermath of this disaster since he so desperately wanted someone that was close to Carroll.

USC never had to do that in the first place. They don't have to turn behind them to look for folks connected to a past era. They open the job and start looking for new people, and then they have as many quality coaches they could want to pick from.

Pat Haden didn't hire Lane Kiffin, Kiffin was hired by Mike Garrett the guy who Pat Haden replaced.
