WKU Receives 5 points in the AP Poll.
It's a start , gotcha beat LSU to have a chance or have teams in front losing
If you guys go undefeated the rest of the way, it'd be really hard to argue against you getting the access bowl unless Memphis finishes undefeated.

If Temple goes undefeated we'll have wins against Penn State, Notre Dame, Cincy, and Memphis the team you just brought up. And you think WKU would be above that? Hahahahah not even to mention Houston or Navy if they won out

He said, though, if "Memphis finishes undefeated", which includes a win over Temple. If either Temple, Memphis, or Houston win out, imho they have the Access Bowl spot. I think the real stink would come about if one of those teams would lose a playoff spot to a 10-3 P5 conference champion team.

I was wondering what the "hahahahah" was all about. This poster must be something like 10 yrs old. Either that or he's this guy:

If Toledo goes undefeated and Boise wins out, WKU won't stand a chance at the AB... Both UT and Boise are ranked. Even with a win over LSU, I don't think it would be enough to pass Boise.. Besides, ESPN uses Boise's ballbag as a pacifier.
Forgot about Toledo.

I just looked at their schedule. In November, they play 3 Tuesday night games in a row. **** that.

So? Do Tuesday wins count less than Saturday wins?? the Mac is used to the Tuesday night gig.
No, I'm just saying, for fans, that sucks if you're someone that prefers to watch the games in person rather than on television.

Unless you live in the town where the game is taking place, it is tough to make a Tuesday night game.

Very true

WKU will have trouble in the coaches poll. Brohm doesn't exactly endear himself to his peers with his lack of sportsmanship that is also reflected by his players. I'm not saying if it's right or wrong, Spurrier made a career of it, but it is what it is.

Lack of sportsmanship? He has called off the dogs at halftime the past three games and that includes a game which WKU fans was begging for more against MT.

If they manage to beat LSU, they won't have any trouble in either poll. They'll leap all other G5 teams in the polls. You don't beat a top 10 team and not get noticed.

I see we have at least two Marshall fans crying about "sportsmanship" I think you should worry about your own coach.. If you want to talk about a pure sh*t head coach read the below and that is the only games I looked at..I'm sure most are like this. And a Marshall fan is complaining about a flea flicker pass with 2 minutes left in the FIRST HALF as being unsportsmanlike.

Stop the freaking crying....I can see a few Marshall fans can't stand it 03-lmfao

2015 vs Northfolk st up 45-7 and what does Marshall do...PASS THE FREAKING BALL

( 4th) Gunnar Holcombe pass complete to Nick Mathews for 9 yds to the NflkS 46

3rd and 11 at NORF 42

( 4th) Gunnar Holcombe pass incomplete to Nick Mathews

Talk about trying to run up he score with 3 minutes left...you go deep but it's a int. Real freaking classy move to go deep up 45-7 vs a fcs school

3rd and 8 at MRSH 34

(3:01 - 4th) Gunnar Holcombe pass intercepted Sandy Chapman return for 34 yds to the Marsh 35

2014 vs Rice Marshall up 34-7 and on a drive mid way through the 4th qt (a few runs were mixed in)

Rakeem Cato pass complete to Tommy Shuler for 11 yds to the Marsh 24 for a 1ST down

Rakeem Cato pass complete to Deon-Tay McManus for 10 yds to the Marsh 49 for a 1ST down

Rakeem Cato pass complete to Eric Frohnapfel for 38 yds to the Rice 13 for a 1ST down

Rakeem Cato pass complete to Deon-Tay McManus for 7 yds for a TD, (Justin Haig KICK) Marshall goes up 45-7

Vs ODU and with Marshall up 49-7

1st and 10 at MRSH 41

Rakeem Cato pass complete to Tommy Shuler for 6 yds to the Marsh 47
Rakeem Cato pass complete to Deon-Tay McManus for 9 yds to the ODU 38 for a 1ST down
Rakeem Cato pass complete to Tommy Shuler for 8 yds to the ODU 24 for a 1ST down
Rakeem Cato run for 11 yds to the ODU 13 for a 1ST down

The last drive of the game up 56-14
Gunnar Holcombe pass complete to Ryan Yurachek for 15 yds to the Marsh 48 for a 1ST down

Gunnar Holcombe pass incomplete to Ryan Yurachek

Gunnar Holcombe pass complete to Deon-Tay McManus for 16 yds to the ODU 30 for a 1ST down

VS Northern Illinois with Marshall up 52-23

the very last drive of the game with 2 minutes left
Rakeem Cato pass complete to Tommy Shuler for 12 yds to the Marsh 15 for a 1ST down

Rakeem Cato pass complete to Tommy Shuler for 4 yds to the Marsh 19

Rakeem Cato pass incomplete

I think you completely missed the point, WKUYG. No skin off my back, but I admit my mind did indeed go where the Rice fan's went (and I'm assuming Stockstill went by the look on his face) after the double reverse flea flicker up 35 points.

Thanks for having us recall all those memorable fourth quarter first downs from last year.

So you are suppose to stop trying to score points before the first half ends?

Are you trying to tell me you have no memory of Marshall doing a trick play up big in a game? I'm sure you know Marshall football 1000x better than I do but I ask you to think hard on this question before answering it.

As for the rice game...it was a 3rd down pass with 6:46 left in the game that just so happen to get 15 yards. It wasn't a 15 yard pass. But still I'm sure you thought the same about Doc in the games I listed.

And if a fan is going to complain about 1 freaking pass with 6+ minutes left in the game....

Rice is up 49-9 on Wagner and...

1st and 10 at RICE 23

(12:02 - 4th) Nate German pass complete to James Mayden for 11 yds to the Rice 34 for a 1ST down

Come on don't be one of those that complains about a team going after a first dow on a very short pass play...

when your team does it to a fcs school and just so we are talking apples to apples in that same game with just about the same amount of time left in the 4th... Rice passes again

1st and 10 at RICE 41

(6:34 - 4th) Luke Turner pass complete to Lance Wright for 8 yds to the Rice 49

In the last three games Western has did everything they could not to embarrass the 3 schools we played. I don't think there's any doubt Western could have put up 200+ more yards and at the very least a couple more scores in each of those.

So stop the freaking crying and worry about your own schools doing the same...but worse to a lot less talented teams. I think all 3 fans crying about this are being very petty.

Fort Bend Owl did you have the same feeling of bad sportsmanship and was your coach rubbed the wrong way last year vs Tech when they were up 69-31

(5:45 - 4th) James Hairston kickoff for 65 yds , Tevin King return for 55 yds to the Rice 45
1st and 10 at RICE 45

(5:45 - 4th) Ryan Higgins pass complete to Hunter Lee for 12 yds to the Rice 33 for a 1ST down
1st and 10 at RICE 33

(5:45 - 4th) Blake Martin run for 15 yds to the Rice 18 for a 1ST down
1st and 10 at RICE 18

(5:45 - 4th) Taylor Burch pass complete to Eddie Johnson for 9 yds to the Rice 9
2nd and 1 at RICE 9

(5:45 - 4th) Taylor Burch pass incomplete to Eddie Johnson, broken up by Emmanuel Ellerbee
3rd and 1 at RICE 9

(5:45 - 4th) Ryan Higgins run for no gain to the Rice 9
4th and 1 at RICE 9

(5:45 - 4th) Blake Martin run for 2 yds to the Rice 7 for a 1ST down
1st and 0 at RICE 7

(2:47 - 4th) Taylor Burch run for 7 yds for a TD, (Jonathan Barnes KICK)

anybody that watched our bowl game last year and thinks you should take your foot off the gas IN THE FIRST HALF is an idiot or has an agenda.

it pisses the fans off enough that he goes into more vanilla than vanilla clock mode from the first drive of every second half.

now we're supposed to dial it back in the first half? really? heyzeus on a unicycle.

if we're wrong for scoring as much as we can IN THE FIRST HALF then what in the hell is Baylor? They're dropping 60's and 70's every week.

Congratulations to WKU. They have a strong program this year. They should certainly squeeze whatever kudos they can out of it. Next year, the sixth year QB is gone, and mediocrity will be calling them back home.

I guess it depends on what your definition of mediocrity is if it's the follow...every school in this conference wishes they were mediocre

Wins over the last 5 years
5
8
8
7
7

The only school in this conference to say they had a winning season (7 or more wins) over the last 5 years... I believe Western will hit 7 this year. As far as losing our 6th year QB...maybe we'll just do a Marshall and play one of the worse schedules in FBS football for a few years...

121st of 125
109th of 128
118th of 128

It's can't get any better than this....

4 Marshall fans made a comment in this topic and 3 of them goes negative on Western. Boy you can just feel the hurt coming out of them. Of course they will never admit it...but it's there. Life is good when you are getting those little backhanded jabs thrown at your school...

it means one thing...you're winning

It is basically defined as finishing middle of the pack (regardless of the blow me down "winning" SunBelt seasons), having no national or even regional recognition, and having most everyone say "Who?"when the university is mentioned. Again, congratulations!

Well the SBC was the #1 rated G5 conference...till Western left. Western moves to CUSA and this conference goes from last to 2nd and the SBC goes to last. Take from that what you like but make no mistake....it's fact

mediocrity

noun me·di·oc·ri·ty \ˌmē-dē-ˈä-krə-tē\

: the quality of something that is not very good : the quality or state of being mediocre

: a person who does not have the special ability to do something well

Let me put the last 4 seasons in context....

Western was one of 8 G5 schools to win 7 or more for the last 4 years...

Western will be one of most likely 5 G5 programs to win 7 or more in each of the last 5 years after this season. Western will be the only G5 school to do that with 3 different coaches. Marshall will not be in those 5 schools. Nothing you say will change those facts..NOTHING. Hate all you want...it wont change those facts. You can go but but but...it won't change those facts.

Do you really want to get the "what Marshall is most know for" started again? One thing we know for sure...it's playing so weak of a schedule that they would have been left out of a new year day bowl with a 13-0 record for a team with 2 losses.

Like I said it's good seeing the hate....

if not it means you are losing

No doubt, that is the thing that bugs me the most, Brohm goes too conservative too quick. Nearly cost us the bowl game. We should have kept doing what we were doing against Middle until at least the fourth quarter. I don't see how that is unsportsman like, especially in league games and against G5 teams, maybe FCS.

The object is to score more points than your opponent WKU started with a good first half lead Against Indiana. It ended up with a 3 point loss. If they had won they would be ranked. So I am sure after that loss you are in the mode of keep scoring

Also with their quarterback in his final season you have to develop your next years passer. Any coach wants to see their #2 guy pass the ball in a real game for next season and in case of an injury this season

You all should be happy you got a program with the quality of WKU across the board
In several sports. I would take them into our American Conference anytime

RE: WKU is Ranked 33rd in the AP Poll
I could care less about the Access Bowl spot at this point...Only thing I want is a CUSA championship....While beating LSU would obviously be unreal, I am more worried about getting out there of with no guys hurt to make our stretch run for the CUSA title...To me that is way more important and I bet our players and coaches agree too...

Unbelievable people calling us out for scoring too many points in a half, haha....If that is what we are doing wrong, then keep that talk going...

More then likely our QB next year is sitting out this season due to transfer rules (South Florida)...I doubt we are as lucky as La. Tech has been that route, but hopefully he is serviceable next year and yes I am sure there will be a dropoff obviously....Yes I am enjoying Doughty's last season but for those who think we just drop to 0 wins a season will be mistaken...
