Attendance is bad all across athletics. It's pretty scary, and it's the elephant in the room that the media doesn't want to talk about on most days.

College football is now made for tv events, so many games are televised now that fans can watch their teams without spending money to get to game

Went to the UC game there a few years back. The student section looked basically the same. Illinois fans also booed when they took too long to get Munchie off the field.

Eh still not as bad as C-USA or the Belt.

Not sure when that photo was taken - the box score shows 40,138 attendance. Probably a little 'embellishment' going on.

Not sure if you made that Illinois game, but the stadium had a good turnout. The student section was just thin for whatever reason. Capacity is 60 some thousand, so I could see 40k with a number of empty seats.

Red Grange was the second man in the broadcast booth for TV games when I started watching college football around the mid 50s. Today he would be called an "analyst" or "color man", but those titles didn't exist then. He was graveled voice and raw....just the facts. I'm sure that he was younger than I am now, but he sure seemed like an old man to an elementary school boy learning the game.

SMU and Tulane have some major marketing to do IMO. I know it is a challenge in both locations to draw. The paradigm not the same as ECU.
