UC isn't that far removed from the same, winning and being successful over the last decade has brought a pathetic student attendance to what they bring now. I surely remember the days of 10-13k a game attendance, with virtually zero students. MU is just on a huge downswing in athletics, winning on a consistent basis will go a long way if they ever want to improve attendance figures. But it is obvious, ole Biff and Buffy care less about football up there nowadays.
Anyway, i don't think the series should be dropped, but something needs to be done. Either play it at Nippert every year, or something like a 3 for 1 setup. Neutral field every year is BS, that benefits MU more than UC, especially UC being the team that will put more butts in the seats. UC should NEVER play a neutral field game against a lesser foe that will potentially be a money loser. UC cannot afford to lose money at this point in time.
First paragraph is dead-on. Any fan base that has gone through a stretch of 4-8, 4-8, 0-12, and 2-10 with 8 of last 9 seasons being under .500 will not show up. Any MAC/Sun Belt team and most C-USA/MWC schools would draw just as bad if not worse than we are now.
Like I have said a few times on this forum, Miami will accept nothing less than a home-and-home series unless UC wants to pay us close to seven figures ever year to visit Nippert. We like the Victory Bell game, but we don't need it. We can just as easily get Marshall back on the schedule every year if you don't want to play us anymore.
Do not worry, the game is not going anywhere. Those making the decisions at UC are not dropping the game.
I saw a lot of Cry-ami students, aside from the pro-jerseys, wearing other college's swag, including UC basketball. As much as the students could care less about the game, they sure let me know what they thought about UC. I just pointed to the C-Paw and said love and honor UC.

There's next to no travel expenses for UC. It's close to home and allows them to have a defacto home game.
If you demand them or another team come to Nippert every year, you're going to have to pay them a nice chunk of money.

My thoughts exactly.
Exactly. Regularly beat them by 30, as we should, and then talk about ending the series. I have a feeling the win streak ends next year. Tubs has given them confidence and hope. Can we trade Tubb's staff for Martin's?
Isn't winning 10 years in a row enough? No way Every game can be a 30 point W. Check out lowly UCONN vs #23 Missouri and there are many other examples.
I'm pretty sure 10 in a row against Miami is unprecedented. Three in a row - no matter how ugly - isn't a fluke.
I sit here and chuckle when I think that our second string QB gave up the ball four times in the fourth quarter alone...and we still won.
As painful as it was for us, imagine being a Miami fan.

No...that would go against everything they are saying about Tubbs...got to beat them by 50 every year...just like Ohio State did to Northern Illinois...and Missouri did to UConn....oh wait...

No. Winning every year is enough, especially if you are the superior team/program. Cry-ami felt this way when they were winning. Uconn and Missouri has no bearing on our game. My expectations are the same as osu fans when they play Mich and other Ohio schools every year ... win and win big.

Lol. I could make a collage of that exact same photo over 9 different trips up there. Never changes.

Despite my comments about seeing Miami students packing Uptown bars during the game, in all fairness to them it did fill up more than that. That looks to be the pregame show. I'd say the student section was about 40% full for the game.
When Miami was winning and beat UC, that section was a bit fuller.

So it wasn't just me who noticed all the Miami students wearing just about every NBA jersey imaginable with a few soccer jerseys thrown in as well. Really bizarre. Also, for a homecoming weekend the entire campus seemed pretty dead.
BTW, I have the feeling the score would have been a lot more lopsided in our favor if Gunner wasn't hurt. Our defense tightened up quite a bit in the second half, especially after being put in some bad spots by all the turnovers.

LOL, that's what the home side looked like in a couple of the Tuesday night specials the last couple of years. Super inflated attendance numbers is a MAC special - how can they still garner FBS classification when they all cook the books is beyond me.

Agreed, D manned up - offense was a bit messed up without Gunner. Losing Boone also hurt some, he could've had a huge game. Saw video of the hit on Gunner, was cheap - even more since it was a blindside from behind. Gotta question why ref felt it wasn't an ejection - deliberate blow to the head area clearly from behind and late - targeting?

Gunner doesn't get hurt and we likely win 45-30 (their last score was gifted from one of the turnovers).

I do not know. Gunner's footwork was terrible the entire game. He is still staring down one receiver too much. I heard the Cry-ami broadcast, while waiting for food. Apparently, Martin could tell when Keil was going to throw vs us running. They never expanded on the comment though.

As I mentioned before, my group noted the ubiquitous professional team jerseys as well. We actually pondered if there was some special event or something that caused this because it seemed so weird.
It just seems like Homecoming would be the one game where the students wear, I dunno, their school apparel? I didn't see it in the stadium, only in Uptown where a good part of the students spent the game.

RE: UC v Miami Nippert Only!
I just got an instant message today from a Miami grad coworker who went with me to the football game on Saturday. She sat through the entire game. We left only after time ran out. This was her message:
"and separate question did UC win?
someone asked me today and im like i think they won"
I guess this would explain the confusion of her clapping after a UC touchdown.

UC was leading by 1 point with him, so I don't think you can say that with any confidence. For all we know Kiel could have thrown into coverage a couple of times leading to some Miami pick-6's.
Bottom line, UC played bad with him and without him.

Actually we were losing 30-27 when he went down.

My point was that our defense played much better the 2nd half, so without the freshman QB turnovers, UC would likely have scored more points than they did.

Agreed. Obviously nothing can be said for sure, but defense was drastically better in the second half. I feel pretty confident Kiel would have lead UC on a couple more scoring drives.

I sat on the east side, and it was probably 80/20 students to UC fans, on the south end of the stands. Miami students are clueless about football.
I also thought it was funny that whenever the UC band started playing the rap music was cranked up to unbearable levels.
