Idiotic statement.

That list was from last week.
Last year the autobid race mostly came down to East Carolina (AAC) and Boise State (MWC) on the backs of their non-conference schedule.
ECU choked during AAC play ending up not winning the conference while Boise State delivered their conference championship.
This year the difference is the MAC has taken the place of the MWC in the discussion because they are the conference with the non-conference resume schools. They've made a New Years Day bowl before unlike CUSA/SBC and have a tradition of producing schools with near undefeated records.
Memphis and Temple at this point could finish 9-3 with Houston winning the AAC at 8-4. Very similar to last year where the AAC doesn't produce a champion with less than 2 wins. I would be surprised if any of these schools ended up better than 10-3 on the season because they all have to play each other.
There is a good chance the winner of the Toledo/NIU game finishes 11-2 or better which is why I think the conference has the inside track for the autobid at this point in time. Both schools are something like 30-1 vs. MAC competition the last 5 years EXCEPT Toledo has lost to NIU. These are facts the non-MAC fan is wholly unaware of I understand.
Toledo plays Bowling Green and NIU play Ohio the two best MAC East schools. NIU could beat Toledo for the West title, beat Ohio in the final game of the season which then hands the East title to Bowling Green. NIU could then defeat Bowling Green in the MAC title game the next week.
If Temple can beat Notre Dame or Memphis beats Ole Miss that would change the equation in favor of the AAC but for the moment the MAC has the inside track.
