Great news it is on ESPN NEWS. Just like having the DVR option and not having to deal with buffering issues.

Not true the GS at NMSU game was on Sports South and I believe Fox Sports Southwest just last year.

Posted from my mobile device using the CSNbbs App

It was on ESPN3 ... ESPN has the exclusive rights to all Sun Belt games. They will all be on ESPN3 at worst.

Quick check of both school's game notes will confirm that.

Ya, that great CUSA mid-week showdown where the announcers don't even travel to the games.

Is the SBC deal great? Nope. Is it at terrible as most of you make it out to be? Nope.

We can't sign a deal with the American Sports Network because ESPN owns all rights to Sun Belt games. That's been part of the contract since CSS went belly up

And to be realistic, CUSA didn't up their coverage, they lost coverage. FS1 only picks up a few games, and CBSSN has pretty much dropped them entirely. They had to sign ASN in order to make sure they got games on television at all. ASN is limited markets, and limited channels. It wouldn't do most SBC teams any good because most of our universities are located in markets without a CW Affiliate for ASN to tie into. We'd essentially be signing up for coverage that the majority of our fans could not watch.

(Cue the CUSA fans to tell us how they got to see all their teams games last year)

ASN has deals with 10 conferences. The WAC was on there last year. They do a good production. There crews will believe whatever you tell them. Last year when NMSU was at UTEP the game was on ASN. During the broadcast the PxP guy said that UTEP's MBB was poised to break into the top 25. 03-lmfao They never got near it.

After NMSU MBB beat GCU in Phoenix, in the post game they interviewed our HC, one of our players and our AD. Lasted about 15 minutes. I have a feeling GCU set that up expecting to be the winners. Would have been one of there first games on real TV and not the internet. ASN works closely with a school and not just the conference.

Actually ASN has games on channels like Altitude and other regional channels. Not just the CW.

Pretty typical for ASN. Idiot announcers, no actual pay to the league, but a network willing to put you on TV.

It's sort of like being broadcast on Aggievision...except with more neutral announcers.

Yes, but the altitude channel doesn't exist in the SBC markets.

Some random guy in Denver could watch ULM play Troy, but people living in Troy or Monroe would have to find the local watering hole with Satellite service if they planned to watch the game.

They are associated with other regional channels, I was using Altitude as an example.

What I know most about the ASN is that this coming weekend, the F_U game as well as the UTC-Samford game will be on my TV and my USA-San Diego St game will not. When CUSA was buried on CBSports, I never saw them, they are now in the local channel guide right below a major ABC game. People see that, I see that, and that isn't on Tuesday or Thursday, that is a Saturday game.

ESPN could sub-license Sun Belt games to ASN. Some MAC games are on a few ASN stations and ESPN3 this year. Best of both worlds, to me.

Don't know about the rest of CUSA but here's Western's TV schedule and I can DVR all of them

[Image: wku%20football%20schedule_zpscfcqkn0f.jpg]

For Chief...last years basketball tv schedule...DVR all of them but I was one lucky guy last year..caught every Western basketball game in person other than the Minn. Would have went to that one but I promised my youngest son I would take him to see the uk/Kansas & Duke/Mich St games on that date.

Western produces all of our home games so they are picked up by Directv..all of them. For 4 or 5 years it was that way in the SBC but once the SBC signed the new deal with espn...all those TV games were moved to espn3.

Since Western played on Thursday the first 2 games this year I was able to watch some Saturday college football...usually traveling for Western's games. I know some people like espn3 I'm not one of those. I tried to watch ASU and GSU games and I also had a couple more going and it's awful when you switch games...takes 20 or 30 seconds to switch and for the sound to catch up and for the buffer to clear the picture. I have TW fastest internet. For me personally...actual TV that you can switch and dvr is better.

+1. As I have said many times before, I have satellite internet and it sucks for streaming video. I don't even try to get on ESPN3, it is nonexistent in my situation. Put my game, any SBC game, on an actual TV channel.

Well the South Alabama game is on the road so that has nothing to do with the Sun Belt TV package at all.

Every ESPN3 game is archived so you can go back and watch it ... don't even have to DVR it?

RE: So what is Sun Belt main TV
On TV is infinitely better then ESPN3, period. No one flips through ESPN3 watching multiple games, you only turn it on to watch the game you want to watch. However, if the game is on TV, people flip by the channel, may stop in for a couple plays or the end of an exciting game. You don't get that with ESPN3, and the whole reason for the TV contract is exposure, ESPN3 is not exposure. A possible high school prospect that has never heard of TxSt and ULM will never turn that game on on ESPN3, however, while waiting for his UT or LSU game to come on sees that game on the channel guide, guess what, he'll turn it on to see what that is about.

We have to get out from under the ESPN umbrella if we want to see the league grow in media output.

That's what you do, to say that nobody does that is incredibly ignorant.

Just because you are not capable of getting internet that works at even a halfway decent rate, doesn't mean that the majority of people are able to. ESPN3 is plenty of exposure, people will "flip" between games on there all the time.

Especially in the time we live in these days, people are on the go all the time and not sitting in front of their TV sets all day. A platform where games can be watched anywhere? Yes please.

You can watch 4 games at a time on espn3, i luv it! Kids are plugged in so recruits will definitely see the games on espn3, pretty sure there are a few in class watching games on their phone now

I can admit when I may have been narrow minded. You guys are probably right about ESPN3 and it is easy for a recruiter talking to a kid to tell him to click on ESPN3 and watch us play this weekend.

I will say this though, I would much rather watch a football game on my 60inch flat screen then my 12 inch iPad.
