Yes and because we did not go to a bowl, we fell out of the final polls taken after the bowls.

Our last hope was to get an invitation to the Silicon Valley bowl and they did send reps to our last game of the season (and Gary Pinkel's last game as a Rocket coach), that frigid (but well attended) Bowling Green night game. However, Silicon Valley ending up picking a 6-5 Arkansas team over a 10-1 Toledo team. Arkansas lost and closed its season 6-6.

Hmmmmm----maybe there was a little karma at work in Little Rock yesterday.

That's right! Good memory.

That was my exact thought. This win represents the first time UT competed and won against a Power 5 school since Amstutz drug this program into the abyss. There have been SO many games that UT has battled and fell short since Beckman was hired (Zona, Mizzou, ISU, OSU, and on...). It's huge to have them breakthrough and win.

I haven't seen it. Does anyone have a link to it?

That is incredible irony! Nice find!

My favorite is the 1967 win over bg. We hadn't won in about 10 years. UT went on to win the MAC that year. I believe it was our first championship.

I was in Happy Valley when we beat PSU. It was a huge win. UT dominated the game.

This team deserves a full house Saturday against ISU. I hope the city responds.

Yes, 1967 for the first MAC FB Championship for UT.
3 stand outs that were on that team: QB John Schneider, RB Roland Moss, and LB/MG Tom Beutler.

How good it is depends on how well Arkansas performs this year -- but it ranks up there, yeah.

RE: Best Win Ever???
How about being 21.5 point underdogs... That's quite a spread to beat by 25.5!!!! Against OSU we were around 18? And Mizzou in 2013 about 15. This Arkansas team had quite the buzz surrounding it. In an era where upsets happen more frequently this game will be shaddowed. But back in 2000 Penn State had gotten drilled the previous week against USC. That win was huge because of the name Penn State carried and the shock in the Big10 where all MAC teams were trying to gain a foothold.

Toledo hasnt gotten pounded in a while. We made the Cincy and Mizzou games respectable last season, so I would say our last blow out losses game in 2010 to Arizona and NIU. People thought that type of loss would happen Saturday. It did not. This win was large. And we have the chance to back it up this weekend.

Glass Bowl should be electric, especially since the first game was a rather dud. I'm driving in from Chicago for it. Was hoping we'd be #25, but hopefully we can clobber ISU and get that ranking heading forward.

I'll take a win. My guess is Kareem and Covington will be up for this one.

For this game the Rockets will certainly get more offense going.

I will always love the 42-0 crushing we put on Marshall in 2000.

This Arkansas team is really stout. We are two 3 1/2 years removed from a team that was in national championship contention and had 18 players on the 2deep make an NFL roster. That team finished ranked 5th, only losing on the road to #1 Bama and #2 LSU. This team has that kind of talent(Though built differently). We got a good NIU team in Fayetteville last year and handled them pretty easily. This was a big win for you guys. Congrats and best of luck with the rest of your season!

RE: Best Win Ever???
I watched the whole TV broadcast of this game yesterday, since I'd only gotten to see it in person. The announcers had respectable general football knowledge but had a lot of head scratching statements and were obviously not prepared to have been discussing an Arkansas loss in any way. At one point the guy said Toledo just (x number of minutes) away from their biggest win in school history. He only offered NIU's win over Alabama in '03 and Miami's win over LSU in '86 as any type of benchmark. I know their job is to cover the SEC and all, but that irritated me a lot. Wouldn't have taken a ton of research/doing homework to throw in some of the wins our program has had, and it's things like that that lead people to only discredit Arkansas for losing to us.

I'm in agreement that time will tell how big of a win this will be, but before reading this thread I hadn't thought about the whole social media angle to it. It's definitely the first time one of our wins has trended on the Twitter and stuff, and another thing I noticed while watching the game was the moment Rogers had his INT, the broadcast's interface posted the #TOLEDOvsARK for the first time, like that's when *they* knew that it could happen.

Yeah, the primary announcer was somewhat annoying. I just kept reminding myself of how some of ESPN's announcers are so bad that I have to mute the sound.

I VERY MUCH enjoyed that win. Only time I've ever lost my voice yelling at a game.

Those statements by the announcers are partially why I started this thread. They annoyed the crap out of me as well. Here's to a solid performance against Iowa St. this Saturday and beyond!

Great game played on a pleasant crisp October evening with a bright full moon shining down. Talk about balanced scoring the Offence scored 21 points and the Defense scored 21 points.

Unfortunately at the end of that season, a 6-5 Marshall won the MACC and defeated Cincinnati in the Motor City Bowl while a 10-1 Rocket team sat at home.

To be factual it was UT's first road win over a top 20 opponent. That is an amazing stat to me, and, with this programs proud history, is impressive.

With that said, I feel like other wins were more important/impressive to the program.

Off the top of my head:
- at Penn St (when Joe Pa was still mostly on top of his game)
- Purdue (1997)
- Pitt (2003)
- Marshall (2001 MAC Championship)
- at Michigan (1st and only team to win in the Big House, but against a bad Mich team)

I'm sure I'm leaving more out, including some great MAC wins.

So, what do you guys think?
