Except for North Dakota handling Wyoming. Utah State won, but struggled mightily vs Southern Utah.

I don't count North Dakota as a cupcake. That team could take down the bottom half of most G5 conferences. Utah St. did struggle, but they still won. I didn't say "everyone dominated their cupcakes."

In that case, you can add UCONN beating Villanova as a quality AAC win. 07-coffee3

There is only 1 Division 1 sports program for the entire state, there are some D2 programs that play Ice Hockey (which combines Division 1 and 2 programs) but that is it.

RE: takeaways from week 1
There is quite a bit of suckage out there

How about conferences that sucked the hardest this weekend

1) ACC: North Carolina lost their home opener, Pitt beat an FCS team with a new HC(YSU, MVFC) by only a TD.

2) B12: OK St had trouble with a CMU team that was 6-6 last year with a new HC and picked by some to be last in the MAC West this year.

Highly ranked TCU had trouble with Minny on the road winning by only 6

T Tech surrendered 45 pts to an FCS team (Sam Houston St) in their home opener

Texas got hammered by ND and

Kansas lost to a MVFC team (South Dakota State)(FCS)

3) 12 PAC

Ranked Arizona beat a Sunbelt team by only 10

Colorado lost to Hawaii by 8 on the road

a ranked Stanford team with a Senior QB lost by 10 to Northwestern who started a Redshirt Freshman QB.

AZ ST got creamed by T A&M

Highly ranked Oregon surrendered 42 pts to an FCS team starting a new QB (EWU)

and

WSU lost to an FCS team(Portland St, Big Sky)

4) Big 10

Nebraska lost to BYU at home.

Penn State got creamed by Temple

Indiana barely squeaked out a 1 pt win over an FCS team( SIU, MVFC)

Can't call Purdue's lost to Marshall suckage as they led that game till the final 3 minutes and they are by far the worst in the B10.
Can't call Michigan's loss to Utah suckage either as they were a Dog.

5) SEC

TN gives up 30 pt at home to Bowling Green
Vandy losses at home to WKU
#6 RANKED Auburn beat Lville by only 1 td at home.
KY beats a Sunbelt team by only 1 tD at home

That's alot of suck to choose from

I'm surprised by the Jones start. I think we will see Barrett come out at the start of the second half as I stated earlier that they will operate in such a manner so that their opponent can never truly get a grasp on the Ohio State offense.

I'm not surprised. After what Jones did last 3 games, tough to see them taking him out.

Yeah I can see that. I just thought they would go with leadership over talent. I guess J.T. is truly showing his leadership right now by being voted as captain, not starting and still being supportive.

Years that Iowa State loses to Northern Iowa, they suck and go below .500. The years they beat Northern Iowa? They have a .500 or btter, Big 12 schools need to worry about Iowa State this year. They could be a big spoiler. Ask Oklahoma State a few years ago.

We are starting to get our MOJO back on our traditional strength areas like OL and LB corps. Offensive tools have been decimated by transfers (NIU top WR, UNLV QB).

Wyoming is extremely young, and has had a lot of personnel turnover.

The Big Sky looks tough this year, probably better the the Sun Belt. EWU may be the best team in that state. Cal Poly, Montana, Mt St, and N Ariz are tough too.

Braxton Miller may be the Heisman candidate from Ohio St. What a run- and yes, that was a Madden type Spin move...

Uh, Elliot has over 100 yards with an average of 14 a carry right now.

Cardale has about 240 all purpose yards so him getting to 300 this game isn't a stretch.

You then add Braxton to the mix and there isn't just a QB competition at Ohio State but a Heisman competition.

Braxton is simply proving that he too should be part of that conversation. I'm just waiting for the defense to get suckered in on that wild cat only to see Braxton throw deep for a TD.

So far, looks like a pretty good career move for him.

A running back has to be way more than what Elliot has done here tonight to have a chance... Only 113 yards.

think a takeaway from this weekend is the ACC is close to being in the same position the Big Ten was last year after the 2nd week. 0-4 vs P5 teams this weekend.

Only? Do you realize how many touches he has had? He has only had 11 carries. This defense isn't a great one to run against. They are covering Elliot on every single option.

Elliot is going to get a lot more touches during the season.

For ANY running back to get the Heisman they have to have pretty much close to 2000 yards. Given that tonight is about as close of a game as OSU will be having- just don't think he's going to have enough juice.

I guess you forgot what Elliot did at the end of the season in just three games. This season he is actually healthy.

As usual, you jump to uninformed conclusions early. It should be obvious that this game is not very symbolic of how things will go for Elliot based upon the defense that VT runs.

But whatever, think what you want. You are crazy though if you think Meyer doesn't have a strong plan for Elliot. Elliot may end up with 200 yards by halftime in a few games considering how soft their schedule is looking.

Its not like the ACC was playing low level P5 teams.

Ohio ST though has so many weapons, tough to see 1 guy having enough numbers.

My point though is that a running back is really running up hill to try to win the Heisman. 2 running backs have won the Heisman in the last 15 years- Bush and Ingram. Everything has to be perfect for a rb to win it.
