Last year of course was Presby on Thursday night: 12,398. Ouch.

You have to go back to 2011 for the next home Season 0pener which was Army on a slightly drizzly Saturday night: 17K.

I say we get in the 18-20K range. I really home it's a number that starts with a 2.

Last year's opener against Presbyterian was played in the rain. It was not bad until just before the half, then it rained harder. Surprised we got that many. If it wasn't the opener, we would have had well under 10K.

What happened to that little diagram, I think it was on Ticketmaster, that showed which seats were taken and which were available?

its amazing how social media is playing into thing and the availabilty of Apps. Everyone looks at the weather app and are now interperters of the radar. They see posible rain coming in fro Iowa and they put plans on hold. We have had questionable weather the last 2 seasons. Rain was predicted for the opener last year and held off until the second Q. Given the weak opponent and the weather forecast, it was not a good omen for a big crowd. So far it looks like a great day for football this sat

It was on ticketmaster last year. For some reason this year ticketmaster picks your seats and you cannot see the open seats.
You can see the tickets available using this HyVee link

Still a good chunk of tickets available... the walk up crowd better be a force.

On a positive, a lot more of a vibe from the students to stick around and attend this game. I see it being pushed onto the freshmen and underclassmen a lot more this year and that's a good thing. Some good chatter overheard about people actually making plans to go home Sunday morning to catch this game first.

This has been my philosophy as of late. My wife and I got very upset when we went to away games and the Huskies failed to show up or played like crap. I hate spending a lot of money - and we used to spend a lot - to feel miserable and upset. Now, rather than spend the money traveling to away games, I just increase my donation to the HAF. Everyone is happy.

Well that is nice to hear. Maybe some parents will get wind of this free tuition promo with the article about it in the Trib.

Small stadium + Large Market Team + Close to home of Large Market Team = Difficult ticket to purchase.

They are not going to announce it before the game unless its a sellout.

There is no reason to. Any number they say other than 23,595 (a sellout) is going to be disappointing to them, the team/coaches and diehards who know that the team deserves more.

Getting the word out on the student attendance...I wonder if this would get any additional paying fans to attend.

http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2015/09/03/n...all-games/

http://www.daily-chronicle.com/2015/09/0...e/angielx/
Aditya Attavane a freshman at NIU, said that he hadn't been planning on going to the first game, which is Saturday, but when he heard about the potential payoff, it got him interested.

"I go to games if I have people to go with, but not by myself," he said. "But if it's that incentive on top of friends going? I can make it."

(IMHO....student attendance at football is pretty darn good.
