CCU fans get to know your new conferencemates

As a point of reference, Coastal basketball attendance averaged circa 2,500 per game last year, so that's about what I'm used to.

Disappointed. At most 2,000 fans but could be 1,000.

With any Sun Belt School in basketball, attendance is directly tied to the success of the program. Run across anyone on a good year, and you'll be pretty impressed overall. During a bad year? Not so much.

I highly recommend making to TXST and ULL for football and baseball games. Both are great sits for both. ULL will blow you away with top notch tailgating and baseball support you won't see anywhere outside SEC, ACC, and Big 12 schools.

Our first In conference game was against USA last season and it was so exciting to see another fan base who took the game seriously and were out in numbers tailgating! When we were in the SoCon the only other team with any game day atmosphere was Appy.

I'm sure you can relate coming from the Big South as well.

I thought Furman's game day atmosphere wasn't bad, neither was The Citadel's.

Dude.....

I'll right this off as a clerical error. You're missing the biggest hardcore base of them all.

What do you mean? He already listed GS.

I've been familiar with Stink fans since I started at Appalachian, and I know for a fact that App has more fans, hardcore or otherwise, than Georgia Southern.

It's not even close.07-coffee3

I would argue we have more die-hards as evidenced by how well we travel and our strong internet presence. GSUfans has more activity than any other SBC I've been on.

YC is a very popular site. I'm not a member of your board so I can't compare them.

Re: Travel, we travel very well to every school not named Georgia Southern. We brought more fans to VT than any ACC team that year, more to ECU than any CUSA team that year (it was pre-AAC), brought twice as many to Elon than the home team every other year, packed Richmond's stadium, 5 hours from Boone, in the frigid cold and snow, and so on. We had over 1,000 fly to Montana. We're bringing 8k to Clemson in two weeks.

I had a good time and met good people on my only trip to Statesboro, but of all the App fans I know (and I know hundreds), most of them swear they'l never go back because they were treated so poorly.

It hinges on how one defines a "diehard fan," which is too subjective to quantify. I just know that our attendance numbers put yours to shame, and I think you're currently riding a bandwagon that is a product of the FBS move and last year's success. 2015 GSUfans.com activity does not indicate diehard fans as much as sustained attendance through bad football (ie 2013-October 2014 App football).

I must have missed the dog days of app fans bitching about travel partners, as I know I've personally not read one and have not posted one

It gets far worse during game week between the two. Expect jokes about goats, gnats, cheating officials, yellow buses, and a drainage ditch.

That's only because they are mad we cracked the rock and ended their home win streak. Oh, and we pee further.

Don't be insecure because your school, stadium, and fan base presence are smaller. Size matters. 04-cheers
