Focus Group on Trump
I'm still in the undecided camp, but I am intrigued by Trump. His take no prisoners approach to politics has caught the interest of those tired of the usual PC politician. I can see how this could be appealing to both sides of the isle.

Check out this article about a recent focus group on Trump.

http://time.com/4009413/donald-trump-foc...ank-luntz/

Quote:“We know his goal is to make America great again,” a woman said. “It’s on his hat. And we see it every time it’s on TV. Everything that he’s doing, there’s no doubt why he’s doing it: it’s to make America great again.”

This is a powerful message and the last 16 years has put us into this position of looking for, excuse the phrase, "hope and change". This is exactly how Obama got his first term of office. This could be why this is resonating with so many people.

Again, I'm undecided, but I am fascinated by how an individual who has never held an elected position has come to command so much attention.

He already had it. "You're fired!"

Its reality TV moved into politics.

At least it is getting more people to tune in.

RE: Focus Group on Trump
Copied this from the other Trump thread...

Trump is merely a symptom of a diseased political system. If our politicians did ANYTHING but sell out future generations, the people wouldn't rally behind the Trumps of the world. The Republicans told us in 2014, that if we came out to vote (which we did in record numbers) that Obamacare would be repealed. There has been no serious effort to defund it. We were told that they'd defund Executive Amnesty. They didn't do a thing. The Republicans we sent to Congress and the Senate are just as bad as the Liberal Democrats they replaced. Donald Trump can't be bought, intimidated, or blackmailed.

Fact is, he's saying what the MAJORITY of Americans believe and shout at the TV when most career politicians speak. The older I've gotten, the more I've realized that the actual Democrat and Republican parties aren't as dissimilar as they'd like you to believe. Only their campaign rhetoric is different. Their actions (once elected) are pretty similar. It's all about keeping the ruling class in place.

It may be hard for some to believe, but the socially progressive, liberal loudmouths are still the minority by a wide margin, they just have the benefit of a complicit media, social media mob justice, and an unbelievably left-leaning POTUS.

I think the lesson here to Republican presidential candidates is, stop playing by the normal rules. Don't be afraid of media/social media backlash. GO FOR IT. Stick to your guns. Look at Trump. He doesn't apologize. He doubles down, and his poll #'s are rising. Because it's REFRESHING. Americans are sick and tired of PC bull**** and public apologies or walking back statements that don't need to be walked back! PC be damned.

Our country is failing and deteriorating at an alarming rate. We need a no-nonsense, common sense Conservative (not a Republican) to act like an ADULT, and get this country back on track... even if we have to drag the liberals kicking and screaming into prosperity.

Charisma

Americans love it and Trump is giving it to them. It's why people like Trump are successful and folks like Rubio, Hillary, and Sanders are ultimately unelectable.

All of the candidates are playing the game and reading off the script. When they get elected they do none of what they promised.

Trump is not one of them and is familiar enough not to be too scary.

People don't need much more than that and will overlook a great deal at this point.

i agree with everything you just stated except the last two sentences have me worried.

Is Trump a conservative?
Does Trump act like an adult?

I can see how Trump is appealing for being anit politician and all but I wonder if these people consider what it would mean when it comes to foreign affairs and diplomacy.

Not a Trump guy myself, but when is the last time we have won in foreign affairs or diplomacy? He can't do any worse and who knows, maybe he'll win a couple.

But there is a certain "political dance" that we do even with our allies. I don't see Trump succeeding in knowing the proper protocol with even handling our allies let alone our enemies.

There may be a 'political dance' but our current administration has shown they will let their partner lead

Bravo!^^^

Perhaps we will now have someone who won't kowtow to penny-enny dictators. They whisper "boo" and obama screams like a girl.

I'd ne happy with somebody who has the balls to tell our enemies to go eff themselves. I'm not interested in compromise anymore.
