Maybe that is what I was getting at.
According to this October 2014 article, NIU averaged just under 3,600 season tickets sold between 2008 and 2013 (with a high of just over 4,200 season tickets sold following the Orange Bowl season):

Based on this October 2013 article, CMU sold a record number of just under 4,900 season tickets in 2012 (when Michigan State played at Kelly-Shorts):

From this article, Toledo sold a record number of just under 12,000 season tickets back in 2012 (I could not find more recent information from the past couple of seasons):

To its credit, Toledo sold over 5,000 season tickets that year through the Ultimate Fan Plan package. What exactly is the Ultimate Fan Plan package?

Not sure if this plan is still in place (Toledo fans can help me out), but in summary: at Toledo, $70 gets you one football season ticket, $24 in concessions, $20 in Rocket gear, and $60 in parking. At WMU, $70 gets you (barely) one ticket to the MSU game.
Not criticizing Toledo - its a great deal, and good marketing - just pointing out that at least to some degree, it's an apples-to-oranges comparison.
As a Bronco, would I like to see a higher number of season ticket holders? Absolutely. Based on this information, though, for the most part we're holding our own with our MAC West brethren (I couldn't find any information about Ball State or EMU season ticket holders).
