MSU @ WMU FB This September
http://www.mlive.com/broncos/index.ssf/2...cart_river

Interesting to see the seating distribution:

MSU asked for only 5K (could have asked for 7K),

WMU students are allotted 7K,

Season tixs number 4,100 plus those seaston ticket holders requested 1,400 additional tickets.

So if my math is right: 17,500 tickets have been committed so far out of 30K possible...

Ticket sales don't seem anywhere as vigorous as for MSU @ CMU a few years ago. I believe that was a really tough ticket...

they have only made the tickets available to season ticket holders at this point. Multi-game ticket packages will be available soon, then single game tickets will be available sometime in August.

I should have been clearer that season tickets are kind of like Phase I. Packages are Phase II and individual game tixs are Phase III.

Multi game packages should be top sellers as WMU has some nice home games to package...

Maybe that is what I was getting at.

Folks are holding off and waiting for the multi game package (I assume everyone wants the early October game vs. Central and probably the mid-September game vs. Murray State and avoid a lot of the cold weather games in November.)

According to this October 2014 article, NIU averaged just under 3,600 season tickets sold between 2008 and 2013 (with a high of just over 4,200 season tickets sold following the Orange Bowl season):

http://northernstar.info/sports/season-t...f6878.html

Based on this October 2013 article, CMU sold a record number of just under 4,900 season tickets in 2012 (when Michigan State played at Kelly-Shorts):

http://www.cm-life.com/article/2013/10/c...006-season

From this article, Toledo sold a record number of just under 12,000 season tickets back in 2012 (I could not find more recent information from the past couple of seasons):

http://www.utrockets.com/ViewArticle.dbm...=205697143

To its credit, Toledo sold over 5,000 season tickets that year through the Ultimate Fan Plan package. What exactly is the Ultimate Fan Plan package?

http://www.utrockets.com/ViewArticle.dbm...=204927197

Not sure if this plan is still in place (Toledo fans can help me out), but in summary: at Toledo, $70 gets you one football season ticket, $24 in concessions, $20 in Rocket gear, and $60 in parking. At WMU, $70 gets you (barely) one ticket to the MSU game.

Not criticizing Toledo - its a great deal, and good marketing - just pointing out that at least to some degree, it's an apples-to-oranges comparison.

As a Bronco, would I like to see a higher number of season ticket holders? Absolutely. Based on this information, though, for the most part we're holding our own with our MAC West brethren (I couldn't find any information about Ball State or EMU season ticket holders).

The fan plan at UT is a great deal and they still do it. It's just the seats are in the second deck of the east side of the stadium. I believe we do it for basketball as well.

Not really apples to oranges when its tickets to every home game so yes its a season ticket.

The fan plan ensures a ticket sold for the game as well as proportionally higher chance that seat will be used for a game than unsold.

I never said it wasn't a season ticket. You're essentially saying a season ticket is a season ticket, and that's fine. No one - and certainly not me - is arguing that Toledo isn't king of the MAC West hill regarding total number of season tickets sold.

It is apples-to-oranges, though, when considering how institutions choose to sell season tickets. School A is selling a $70 season ticket that includes $24 in concessions, $20 in apparel, and $60 in parking. School B's cheapest season ticket is $150, with no perks included. The circumstances are very different for fans of School A and fans of School B who want to buy season tickets.

I will grant you that each school makes their own decisions regarding how to go about doing business. Toledo's method has obviously been very successful for many years. WMU - at least this coming year, with Michigan State coming in - is going about it the American Way: Try to make as much money as possible. (Personally, I prefer the Toledo approach.)

The main point of my initial response was that, with the exception of Toledo, WMU is no worse than the rest of the MAC West regarding season ticket sales. IMO the total number of season tickets sold by each school really doesn't matter much. As you correctly said, at the end of the day, the bottom line is getting butts in seats. With a program trending up and an excellent early home schedule (Michigan State, Murray State on CommUniversity Night, CMU, and Miami on homecoming), WMU has a great chance to average over 25K through the first four games. Like the rest of the MAC, attendance numbers will likely dip for the two MACtion games, but there's no reason why WMU shouldn't draw very well this year regardless of what the final season ticket numbers are.

RE: MSU @ WMU FB This September
For sure.

Luckily the WMU program has some excitement around it to warrant higher tickets, especially for a matchup with MSU.

I do like the fan plan (my parents and my wife's parents buy them--- AND go to almost all the games-- including MACtion games).

I can see why Toledo went to the Fan Plan. I think it was you that included the UT season ticket numbers.

2001 - 10,105
2002 - 10,596
2003 - 10,784
2004 - 10,851
2005 - 10,104
2006 - 9,110
2007 - 8,983
2008 - 8,190
2009 - 7,476
2010 - 11,005
2011 - 11,792
2012 - 11,917

The 2009 number is what I believed prompted the University to look at what was happening with attendance after replacing the coach the previous season and needed something to get the fans back into the Glass Bowl. Beckman was a solid hire that energized the fanbase but didnt replicate in the stands until the following season.

I think its worked well. Unfortunately, or more fortunately for other MAC teams (NIU) the Glass Bowl inst a death valley it once was and hasn't brought Toledo the coveted championship it wants.

In any event I have no doubt that WMU will sell out for this game and some hot action on the secondary market as well, as MSU is the only Big 10 East team that will challenge Ohio State this year

Single-game tickets for the MSU game went on sale this morning and sold out in 20 minutes. The only tickets to the MSU game currently available are whatever WMU has decided to still hold onto in an attempt to entice fans to purchase full season tickets.

If nothing else, this shows that any rumors of sluggish interest from Bronco fans regarding the MSU game have been greatly exaggerated.

I'm not sure that I take this at face value.

Are we talking say 10K in 20 minutes???

I'm guessing that they've set aside many, many thousands as suggested.

I'd like to know how many were put on sale (and sold) in 20 minutes.

On Stubhub, tickets are going from $130 - $330. Tickets for CMU @ WMU are going from $20-$70.

Possible, but MSU hasn't even sold out their allotment of 5K tickets yet. Tickets are still available through MSU (but only for MSU donors or MSU season-ticket holders).

I don't know the exact number that sold during that time. All I know is that single-game MSU tickets went on sale at 9 A.M. yesterday morning and were sold out by 9:20 A.M.

7K tickets set aside for the WMU student section. 5K tickets set aside for MSU. From what I have heard, WMU has sold over 5K full season tickets and an even higher number of three-game packs (though I don't know the exact number).

As Todd pointed out, at this point, unless you purchase a full season ticket, your only real option is Stubhub, where the asking price currently starts at $130.

WOTS is that the fire marshall is putting the hammer down this year and not allowing SRO tickets to be sold for fans to sit on the hill. If true, and I sincerely hope not, that'd mean we'd be closer to our 30,000 capacity than our 36k crowds we saw in the early 00s

Congrats on any crowd which starts with a '3' followed by 4-digits. 04-bow
