Damn Burks how stupid can you get.
Paid a woman $100 to file a false police report on his ex girlfriend.

This is truly a sad case of a player not reaching his potential due to his environment. He may have been one young man who in the long term would have been better off to go somewhere else to college and get away from the whole situation with his peers. Not relieving Burks of his own personal responsibility, but he should be in the NBA imo. Instead..well..as I said, it's very sad. Still love this young man, he could flat out ball.

You got to admit you can see where he was coming from. I've thought of a 1000 ways to get back on my ex's, but everyone of them would have screwed me worse than they did, so I just left it alone and moved on. That would be my advise to him, if he would ask.

Character & work ethic go hand in hand. I worked with both burks & Richmond at FedEx. They were 2 lazy dudes.

This is some BS. Burks had positive influences in his life (Ken Bennet). Burks' life is where it is today because of Burks and the decisions he's made. When I worked the Binghampton area I saw Burks and his running buddy, Clyde Wade, more than once rolling around in his Dodge Magnum and up to no good. I still can't get over the fact that he was prepared to walk away from the opportunity to play for Calipari at Memphis because he didn't want to take his gold teeth out.

RE: Damn Burks how stupid can you get.
People are able to change and it wouldn't be fair for any of us to write someone off, but if you look at his body of work and the path he is on, you wouldn't be crazy to think (hope) that he is locked up so he won't kill or hurt innocent people. For a guy whose career ended prematurely, who has already been shot, and is lucky to be alive; he doesn't exactly seem to be appreciative of his good fortune and looking to make positive changes.

There is a ton of truth to what he is saying.
Are you saying if Burks grew up in Collerville and his parents had wealth he would have the same issues?

Probably, him and his family would just be better at hiding them. Not everything in life is due to external factors.

That is true he may have still had issues (we all do), but I doubt his issues would have been the same. Most of who you are is because of your environment not your DNA.

I would respectively, disagree. For instance a gay person is going to be gay regardless of the environment. It is who they are. Same goes in other instances. Just not as noticeable.

I'm saying Burks not reaching his potential is not because of his environment. This has not nothing to do with where one grows up. It has everything to do with opportunity and personal decisions that were made and are still being made.

What were the chances of a person born into slavery of becoming the President of the United States?
What are the chances of a girl in Afghanistan whose parents will not allow her to go to school of becoming a professor? Are her chances the same as a person in the US whom both parents are professors?
