I've heard Coach Jones doesn't even like Waffle House. I don't think it would have worked out anyways.

If the man don't like Waffle House, then he is automatically suspect at best.

Waffle House is the BOMB!

RE: Coastal Carolina
So the Sun Belt supposedly visited Coastal's campus this week. Everyone is being pretty "tight-lipped" on the matter. I'm sure the visit went well.

So what's the next step? How soon will the visit committee meet with the other Presidents/ADs to release their findings & make a decision? How soon should we expect some news to break?

There finding will not be released by the conference. They could be meeting now are it could be months before they meet. Only they will know when this takes place. News will break when they want it to be released. It could be in the next week or it could be months away. Just have to play the waiting game now.

King Karl will soon gather his Minions . . . . They'll meet in a very private and secluded location . . . . After much discussion, arguing, petty bickering, and prayer, The Almighty Benson and Company will reach a perfect and Logical decision.

The entire Belt will be made aware when Red Smoke Plumes forth from the chimney of the said private and secluded location.

Carrier Pigeons will then be released carrying the answer you so crave . . .

Hopefully, it's not pigeon season in South Carolina . . .

This may mean nothing, or it could be a significant sign...

But the timing of the visits (both to EKU and CCU) seems odd. Given that every school in the Sun Belt (and in FCS) is prepping for football season, I normally wouldn't expect to hear an announcement. But if that were the case, why wouldn't they schedule the visits AFTER football season?

I dunno, just asking a question I know not many here will know the answer to.

RE: Coastal Carolina
IMO, I think the visits were conducted the past few weeks because the SBC wants a school for olympic sports by 2016 (next year). Whichever school is chosen then can begin their FCS-to-FBS transition at that time.

This is why I think we may hear something soon. If an invite is extended in Spring 2016, there's little time to get schedules ready for the 2016-17 season.

TXST and UTSA were the "earliest" invites that I remember. Most teams don't get invited until the spring or summer. The Texas schools were October or November if I remember correctly.

Two very important things happened at the spring meetings: leaders agreed we WILL expand (or, replace depending on how you choose to look at it), and they also agreed HOW we would expand. Which is why discussions of any schools other than Eastern or Coastal are a complete waste of time.

They also empaneled a committee to go through the process which as culminated in the visits to both schools. I think there will be an offer to one of these schools. I think a decision from that committee will come soon. Don't know when it will be announced, and it's really impossible to get Olympic sports in by 2016.

I still think we are looking at a November announcement that the chosen school will join the Sun Belt 2016-17 academic year.

They wanted to visit the beach in the summer versus December is my guess.

I'm confused by the two statements in bold. They seem contradictory, could you please explain.

Even with proper notice, no one is "free" to enter for 2016-17 but I think there is a line of thinking that a school might pay to exit early and enter in 2016-17 just as MTSU and FAU did entering CUSA and FIU did entering the Sun Belt from the ASun.

Sure. I don't think spring 2016 sports can can come over that soon. It think the earliest spring sports come over is January 2017, or 2016-17 academic year.

The earliest either EKU or CCU can move is the 2016-2017 academic year. Sports schedules are based on the academic year as are the revenue distributions.
