Fair catch Hoppe?

I seem to recall that the staff told him to fair catch only, no returns.

I sympathize with your obvious mental limitations, but there is a difference between what happened "50 years ago" and "during the last 50 years". Obviously somebody cared enough about it to put a list on the Internet - not to mention the media and fans of those schools on the list. I knew when I started this thread that there would be a mad rush among some to piss on the cornflakes as quickly as possible. Post anything a little positive on this forum and you can count on that.

The interesting thing is which Mississippi team has had the best record over the past 50 years.

I don't know the answer to the original question, but I believe G5 Southern Miss has beaten a fair amount of good teams also

I agree Shibest was a great hire, how does it relate to GA's post?

I know a few Arkansas people that thought Shibest was a joke....maybe it was just the carry over from Nutt.

Most fans of a top 5 teams can tell you about their school 50 years ago.

Ask an ole miss fan about their team 50 years ago and you can't get them to shut up

So yeah, it matters

For years our special teams were an absolute joke. I'm speaking mainly about our kickoff returns and defensive coverage. Now, they are outstanding thanks to Fuente and especially Shibest.

RE: Tiger Football Bragging Point
Back to the original subject (# wins over Top 20 winningest schools), a bit of research shows that our wins over 10 of the top 20 teams compares rather favorably with current Big 12 members and expansion candidates:

Big 12 Schools:
UT - 16 (Nebraska, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Penn State, Alabama, Michigan, USC, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Auburn, LSU, Miami, BYU, Arkansas, Arizona State, West Virginia)
OU - 15 (Nebraska, Ohio State, Penn State, Alabama, Michigan, Texas, USC, Florida State, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Auburn, Miami, Arkansas, Virginia Tech, West Virginia)
KSU - 10 (Nebraska, Oklahoma, Michigan, Texas, USC, Tennessee, Miami, BYU, Arizona State, Virginia Tech)
OSU - 9 (Nebraska, Oklahoma, Alabama, Texas, Georgia, BYU, Arkansas, Arizona State, Virginia Tech)
BU - 9 (Oklahoma, Texas, USC, Florida State, Auburn, LSU, Miami, BYU, Arkansas)
WVU - 8 (Oklahoma, Penn State, Texas, Florida, Georgia, Auburn, Miami, Virginia Tech)
TTU - 7 (Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, Florida State, Tennessee, Arkansas, Arizona State)
TCU - 7 (Oklahoma, Texas, USC, Florida State, Miami, BYU, Arkansas)
KU - 6 (Nebraska, Oklahoma, USC, Florida State, BYU, Virginia Tech)
ISU - 5 (Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, Florida State, BYU)

Expansion Candidates:
Houston - 12
Memphis - 10
BYU - 7
Boise State - 5
Colorado State - 4
UCF - 4
USF - 4
Cincinnati - 3

To summarize, we own victories over more Top 20 football programs than 70% of the Big 12 and more than all expansion candidates except Houston. I think this would surprise a lot of people and I wonder if it should be passed on to the football staff, Tom Bowen and Dr. Rudd for possible use in recruiting and Big 12 membership pursuits.

I can answer this!! Tennessee fans incessantly talk about the past. That's pretty much all they do. But here is a historical fact a Vandy grad told me the other day that I thought was interesting.

While it's true that since 1975, Vandy has only beaten Tennessee 5 times, in that same time period, Tennessee has only beaten Florida 6 times?

Reminds me of a family get together in Florida last year. There were about 35 people there and I only knew about 6 of them. We are watching a SEC college football game on TV (probably U of Florida) and Memphis is also playing on another channel. So, during a break in the SEC game, I ask if they would mind me flipping over to the Memphis game to see the score. A man I don't know is sitting at the other end of the room watching the game and says..."Memphis! Why would you want to watch a high school game?" I look at him and ask "Where did you go to school?" He says, "UT". I respond "Oh, University of Texas?" He responds "No Tennessee." I go, "Huh" and get up and leave the room, as do my other relatives and we go to the back porch and watch another TV there. I ask my nephew, "Who is that guy?" He responds..."He is an A Hole..no one likes him. He can watch the game by himself."

At a minimum, I would have just gone ahead at that point and changed to the Tiger game and popped him if he tried to change it back.

But, of course, I don't care that much what many in my family think, especially the orange clad ones.
