Quote:A highly publicized ceremonial unveiling of the satanic figure of Baphomet in Detroit Saturday, an event billed as the “largest public satanic ceremony in history,” sold $25 and $75 tickets, the proceeds of which will be used to support the reproductive rights legal action fund, according to a Temple spokeswoman.
The cult has also set up a donation website with Indiegogo “to challenge arbitrary, insulting abortion regulations,” which as of Wednesday, has raised more than $32,000 for its reproductive rights campaign.

As long as they hire qualified doctors, have clean facilities and follow the laws, I have no problems with it. It may be needed if the right wing fundamentalist Christian types are successful in the "Acorning" Planned Parenthood.

I have absolutely no problem with what they actually did, despite the intentionally incorrect characterization their actions have been given by many on this messageboard. Satanists don't actually worship Satan, btw, they are just secular humanist who use the boogeyman from the bible to make their point about separating church and state.
RE: Satan Worshipers Raise $ in Detroit to fund Abortion on Demand
I'm atheist....I don't do satan either....
this could be the dumbest argument I've read in my life....child sacrifice vs. legal abortion is not remotely comparable.....
Quote:Satanism has a millennial history of association with child sacrifice, which makes its financial and moral support of abortion a logical corollary to its other activities. The Israelites struggled against the worship of Baal, another name for the Phoenician god Moloch, who demanded child sacrifices of his followers and was associated with the devil. The prophet Jeremiah speaks explicitly of the sacrifice of children to Baal, warning his readers that God finds such behavior abhorrent.
being pro life/pro choice is a personal matter (IMO) and should have nothing to do with religion when it comes to law making
I can easily understand the religious right using the propaganda, "see.....these are the type of people that want to kill babies"
disclaimer: I'm pro choice for a variety of reasons....none of which include satan

RE: Satan Worshipers Raise $ in Detroit to fund Abortion on Demand
Note: Satanic Temple =/= Church of Satan (of Anton LaVey fame). The "Satanists" that have surfaced in Detroit don't appear to be actual believers, more so people using the name, image, and connotation to further their agenda. The separation of church and state is a point of emphasis, evident in their push to eventually move the notorious Baphomet statue to the statehouse in Arkansas.
"The modern Satanic Temple has nothing in common with the horror-movie conception of devil worshipers, aside from a penchant for black clothes and inverted crosses. The temple — not associated with the Church of Satan founded in the 1960s by Anton LaVey — views Satan not as an evil figure, but one who dared question authority. They see the human body as inviolable, and prize rationality and skepticism."
