I think the chances are slim and none, and I believe I just saw Slim leaving town.

My impression, not being a construction expert, is that construction has to start before it can be completed.

I don't mean to criticize your post, but isn't that a bit overly technical for a message board?

Here is a summer projects presentation that has some information and drawings of athletic facilities and other Rice projects. There is a note on the soccer stadium picture that their is room for future expansion on the team facilities.

In addition, the last couple of pages show the addition of 15 or so much-needed work benches to the OEDK, by expanding the current basement lab space into the part of the basement until now was used by Facilities & Engineering.

The flyover is a great way to follow the progress and another indication of just how good the folks in our athletic department are. Way to use today's technology!

Stands for 1500 would go in quickly... I don't think the locker rooms etc will be finished, but haven't they been using that other building right behind the stands anyway?

RE: Soccer/Track
The whole problem has been that soccer (and men's and women's track) have had no locker room for years. The meeting rooms at the stadium have no running water (except when it rains). In addition there is really no locker room for them to use in Tudor.

Soccer trains at 6:30 a.m. almost every morning during the season. After training ends, the players have to either make their way back to their colleges or go to classes without being able to clean up. It has not been a good situation for years, but the new facility is certainly a step in the right direction.

RE: Soccer/Track
Continues with the same misinformation about the old stand being built in 1965 when it had been around since at least 1938 when Rice built permanent stands where a lot of the temporary stands had been. The misinformation comes from a misread of a 1965 press mentioning new seating at the old stadium. However, what was probably done was removing the old wood bleachers and replacing it with a couple of inch cement panel.

It really is remarkable that Rice has produced conference champions and Olympians with what it has had. That says a lot about the character of our athletes and coaches.
