yep time to get a twitter account or watch the NIU web site GCD. I seldom get anything via email anymore, they expect you to see it once they publish.

If NIU wants to contact me, it will have to be by e-mail or snail mail (or phone). When they want their donations, you can rest assured they know how to get ahold of me.

sending an email is still the most effective way of e-marketing, so it makes no sense if they're cutting back on emails.

Perhaps they're trying to save on e-postage.

I have no interest in Golf so I usually don't pay attention to those announcements as much and as a result I don't post the info here.

Agree with you and for everyone who says "it's been all over NIU's social media" and "time to get a twitter account," NO.
Why can't NIU athletics, media relations, development, etc., utilize every method to get the word out? Why do you have to use one particular format and skip others? Perhaps I'm missing it, but it is not on the website, and efforts should be made to still get it included in newspapers like the Daily Chroncle, Daily Herald, Aurora Beacon-News, Elgin Courier-News, Southtown Economist, Joliet Herald, Quad City Times, Rockford Register-Star, etc. Even if such an effort produces only one or two more participants, isn't the idea to get participants?

The info below is copy-pasted from elsewhere and it should be in a story on the website......or considering the significance, history, tradition of the Brigham-Novak, it ought to be featured -- in advance -- just like the Wilson Passing Academy, Football Women's Clinic, or The Harvest Invitational -- anyone know what this is on Aug. 22? I didn't, but I found it searching for info on the Brigham-Novak.

Brigham golf outing has been around 20Years, its the football alumni outing. Started by Vince Scott & John Gibbons. Ex coaches come back its really entertaining and current staff talks at the lunch. Coach brings some current players to event, usually Srs.

non-players have had the chance to play and/or go to the dinner. One I went to had Bill Mallory, Pat Culpepper, Jerry ippoliti, and Jerry Pettibone returning to say a few words. Culpepper was always the hit as a result ofhis jokes. I heard Charlie Saddler was coming this year. Hard to believe, we'll see.

This is a really great event for NIU Football and has grown alot over the last several years. Although the primary participants are football alumni, it is open to any and all.

I am very proud to be a part of this event! See you on the 31st!!!

04-cheers

Any idea if they are trying to make this a more exclusive thing? Maybe eventually just open to former players, coaches, administrators and higher up HAF donors?

Exclusive? its a party a fundraiser - You hope you need -2- days for the event or-3- courses.

I go by the thought that if the event sells out every year then they are not charging enough. Charge more and keep it on the smaller side so the higher donors get some exclusivity for their donation to HAF.

I too seldom get any emails from NIU anymore. I figured that they have many bigger fish to cater to. Things have been pretty quiet from NIU lately. I used to enjoy getting news about events from the athletic department.

One day, you could become one of those bigger fish. The way to develop you as a potential bigger donor is to keep you in the loop on happenings and make you feel like you are an important part of the program. An e-mail doesn't cost much and last time I looked, the postage is pretty cheap.

Just so it is clear, the Novak-Brigham golf outing is ex football player only/staff. Sorry if anybody was led on. The hope is that it becomes open to any alumni in the future.

Im glad it is back at seven bridges an amazing golf course and across the street from Tilted Kilt :). Should be a great time, looking forward to seeing everybody and of course winning the outing.

40 cases of free beer will be there as well. Stay thirsty my friends.

Go Huskies!
