They either buy all of the home games or just the Big10 games. I think this would be a good year to make that change, with the new stadium and all. Oh well, I'm not a marketing guy. Whatever puts butts in the seats.

Sell out the student allotment of tickets every single game then worry about that. One step at a time.

A lot of the OSU students sell/give their tickets to family and friends. My wife went to OSU in the 90s. The only game she went to was Michigan. She made a nice profit selling her other tickets.

They also have a lottery for students at bigger schools. Some students are lucky to get tickets for even one game. They pay just slightly discounted prices. Our method is just fine.

Hooray.... That'll make the stadium look even worse when they leave in the third quarter.

What percentage of the student section is allocated to student season tix vs single game. Why in the hell wouldn't a student do the $70 tickets?

No, in most cases they get bad seats at a fairly small discount.

I go to UT-Knoxville. The stadium is 100,000+ and we pay $10 per game for a student ticket. Edit: That is for Sideline seats all the way up through the upper deck. Loyalty points determine if you get good seats or bad seats.

But at least those seats get filled before the game starts, unlike some of the other season ticket holders.

Touche. Nippert student section is often impressive for national TV pre-game; the rest of the stands not so much so. I'm hoping that easier access on both the east and west sides of the stadium enable the crowd to move in and get seated much faster before kickoff. Or, folks decide they can stay home a few minutes longer and still be fashionably late.

City of Cincinnati is a come late and leave early sports town. Now if there is a bobblehead give-away you have no problem with early arrivals.

My only question is I hear the Bearcats will not be the first game played in the renovated Nippert Stadium. I was told there will be high school games played the previous week @ the end of August a week before we open!. I just find that a little odd that a high school team will get a chance to play there and reopen the new Nippert before the Bearcats play. Thoughts?

It will be a good dress rehearsal for the opening game, plus it never hurts to get people to Nippert and get them interested in coming back for UC games.

There are going to be four high school games at Nippert the week before:

•St. Xavier v. Covington Catholic (August 28th, 5:30 pm)
•Moeller v. Indianapolis Cathedral (August 28th, 8:00 pm)
•La Salle v. Carmel (August 29th, 6:00 pm)
•Colerain v. Warren Central (August 29th, 8:30 pm)

There will also be games over at Sheakley.

Frankly, I don't have a problem with it. UC gets some revenue out of the deal and the kids enjoy playing at Nippert. Who knows, maybe one of them will enjoy playing there so much they commit to play athletics for UC.

Agree with all. Let's hope UC has ticket windows open for all those high school games and does scoreboard promotion to encourage attendees to buy tickets on the spot for the UC opener (or other games), perhaps with a special incentive or token of appreciation.

We don't know for a fact that selling out the new Nippert will be an influencing factor with P5 conference expansion, but attendance is consistently cited as a knock on the Cincy resume. Let this be the season we collectively eliminate that objection.

That is a heck of a lineup. 3 of the best Indiana programs right there.

This is a good opportunity to make sure everything is working properly before the game on Sept. 5th. Especially things like the new ribbon boards and some other equipment that was obtained in the offseason (nothing exciting, just stuff for facilities).

As far as ticket booths and what not we are very limited in what we can do at any HS event due to compliance issues.

Ashley--thanks for your reply and I understand and respect the very real concerns about compliance.

This just seems like a terrific target audience for UC with lots of high school football fans from premier programs in our region. And they'll already be seated in one of the best football venues anywhere! I hope there may be a "workaround" solution to get some of these attendees back on campus. This should be a very special season for many reasons.

Does anyone know who initiated playing these games on campus? I'm just wondering if there are any conditions under which this could be considered improper recruitment of high school athletes?
