That's my ??? July is a terrible time to transfer, classes are filling up, scholarships filling up, missing team stuff at next school (meetings, weight programs, etc).

Why is errybody so hung up on the July stuff? Pastner booted off Woodson and Damien in August and no one felt bad. Kedren came in last August.

A supposed transfer request is different from a team dismissal.

Yeah, I take exception with this as well. I would think that dad teaching son would say (even if you don't like the guy in charge), "you need to go to him as a man and tell him you're leaving." As is in life. There have been times I have had bad bosses but when I left the company I did the diplomatic thing and sat with them to resign.

Good question and hard answer. Talent wise from the day Pastner started until now I'd say it is worse, but how much is a question. Only because we haven't seen the Lawson's on the court.

Yes. I think it is easy to recognize that a transfer is not the same as a dismissal. However, the effect is the same in that a player (and in last August TWO) is leaving the program at an untenable time.

By the same token, Dom and Damien were pushedout at a bad time for them, as most schools weren't anticipating getting transfers two weeks before school starts and perhaps many schools of interest didn't have scholarships available that late in the game. Again, no one faulted Josh for booting those guy that late in the process, but some (ie Grant) are raking Austin for the timing.

I would say that Pastner has no choice but to push for the release. Yes.

I have no problem with AN wanting to transfer but I also have no problem with Pastner wanting to meet with him before he allows it. And I think, as a father, it would be the right thing to have had your son do.

Considering Austin gave him the exclusive yesterday (AN didn't speak to anyone else--including the coach) it seems Martin was actually pretty "in the know."
