Word.
I'm one of those fair weather fans who only gets excited during world cup tourney play, but damn, it's exciting.
I'm also a big enough homer that I only care as long as the US team is alive.

Leave it to a bunch of men to take an amazing World Cup victory and turn it into an opportunity to obsess over a female athlete's body. I mean, forget her amazing achievements. What matters is that she's hot, am I right?
Ick.

I watched the match and was very impressed with how our ladies played yesterday. That first few minutes was amazing. Didnt notice anything to get worked up about regarding those gals' bodies though, BFB... Not sure where that comment of yours came from.

Truth, but why is this guy still doing commercials when he hasn't been Futbol-relevant for years, and never relevant in the US?
Anyways, to the girls!

Oh, I agree. Also ridiculous. I'm just a little disappointed to see this kind of thing here. I clicked on the link expecting to see something celebrating the victory. Wasn't happy with that surprise.

I frankly enjoy the women's game more. Maybe it's because having daughters raised my consciousness, or maybe it's because women generally don't drop like they've been shot when an opponent ruffles their shirt sleeve.

For the record, I actually like soccer and have watched many USA vs XXX World Cup matches over the years(even though I missed last night at a family celebration but followed it on twitter). By the way, this thread was started BEFORE the match began after I stumbled across the ad for the YEARLY body issue which has been posted here before...

Still probably no place for a message board.
Yes it does. It's on ESPN's home page.

Yes, it does. And I don't really have a big problem with that. I just got the feeling that "celebrating her extraordinary fitness" wasn't the intent of this thread. But I could have misunderstood.
Anyway, regardless of the original intent, at least a warning would have been nice.

I'm right there with you.
I didn't really get into women's soccer for real until the previous World Cup. I just so happen to catch a couple of games while I was in Afghanistan and I've been all about it ever since. Don't get me wrong, though. They still have the occasional flop here and there, but not nearly to the extent we see in the men's game.
Overall, I just feel like the women's game is cleaner and is void of a lot of the melodrama that the men have to deal with.

"Celebrates" all sorts of body types, not just extraordinary fitness (see Prince Fielder)

Including the Indianapolis Colts offensive line this year.
