Given how much that actually means anything ... why would he want to go to Sacramento? I mean, Sacramento? It's not the glitziest of places.
Sacramento is ten times nicer than Lexington, KY.
Really? In what way?
Cost of living?
at $10MM a year you're a little less concerned with cost of living than with average wages.

RE: Sacramento Kings talking with John Calipari
Cal is probably using Sacramento to send a message to other NBA team that being a head coach, by itself, isn't going to be enough to lure him from Ky.
So, the reports come out that Sac has at least gotten Cal's ear by offering $10MM to be the head coach AND have control over personnel. That is now the bar that has been set for real teams to get John's attention.

I have no idea what Cal's angle is, but experience shows that he's got an angle.
Sacramento makes little sense though. Don't you need water to make sno-cones?

I agree. If the reports are true, he is definitely "listening" for a reason. I think there is a 0% chance he goes to Sac town, but this may open the door for him to go to a place like Cleveland in the near future.

I think the only way Cal goes to the NBA is to coach Lebron.

Clearly that would be a non-starter.

Ha. Wouldn't be the first time you've made that claim.

Cal likes hearing his name in the news. I'd have taken the New Orleans job, Tyreke, and Anthony Davis is a better combo than Cousins, and Stein.

The NBA is a less time consuming job...
But at UK he is in control whether he wins and loses by the players he brings in, he will never have that level of control in the league.

100% true. The only way he has control is if he brings in Lebron and others with him. Also, he has zero track record when it comes to evaluating NBA talent. How can you trust him to walk in right away and build a team?

It was well documented that he wanted Kobe Bean, but Sonny V planted the seed that Bean would refuse to sign. Thus, the Nets drafted Kerry Kittles and Cal still blames Sonny V.

RE: Sacramento Kings talking with John Calipari
If Calipari were to bring in Lebron somewhere or go to Cleveland where Lebron is, Calipari would have NO control. Lebron isn't playing anywhere he doesn't have control. Maybe that would work for Calipari but I doubt it. The few places where a coach in the NBA has control are San Antonio, Golden St, Atlanta and maybe a couple of other places. Most NBA programs are dominated by the star(s) on the team.
