Based on 2014 Massy simulation GSU wins 2 out of 3 times but the simulation was based on last years data.I've heard that you have great LBs and a good defensive line and will be better than last year! That and its just a simulation.

(The Bad) GSU has to replace 4 senior offensive linemen. "IF" our new o-line jells this summer then I believe GSU wins at home. "IF NOT" then we are in for a fight that comes down to the buzzer.
MY PREDICTION with the O-line in good shape & playing at Southern > GSU 35 - WM 28
Of course you will disagree as true blue W. Michigan fans as you should & that's OK, but I'm a GSU fan so............ ;-)

Yeah, last year is key. WMU should be more self-improved, while, GSU won't be in such a position, so when comparing last year's (albeit not big) gap between the two, that will certainly narrow from a predictive standpoint.
Really, what it comes down to is: Can WMU be effective at stopping their option play? WMU had a taste of that of course against Air Force in the last game this past year, so that should help along with the adjustments GSU's making this year.
I give GSU the advantage. If WMU brings a good prepared game and GSU wins -- your coach is a good one.

Personally, as of right now, I'd say GSU -6.
GSU ran the Paul Johnson "Spread Triple Option" that GT, Navy and AF use. GSU switched to the "Pistol Option" last year. while still an option based offense its different.
Well both teams have this summer to refine their players. I'm anxious to see hour new o-line grades out. WE have excellent O-Backs but without those hogs???????????????????????????????????

This could end up being the biggest factor in the game.
WMU faces two tough teams on the road this season that lost a ton to graduation on the O-line: GSU and Toledo. Not making any predictions yet, but I'll say this: It works to WMU's advantage to face GSU early in the season - just as it won't be nearly as much of an advantage for WMU facing Toledo late in the season once the Rockets' new O-line has accumulated double digit games in starting experience.

Phil Steele doesn't think the Rockets losing the 5 OL is that big of deal.
He says the Rocket OL will be much better than people think and picks Toledo to win the MACC(Last season he projected a tie between NIU/Toledo with the Huskies taking the tiebreaker).

Georgia Southern 35
Western Michigan 31
Weather conditions heavily favored Air Force's style of offense, while it hindered ours (especially with with a banged up Franklin).
I believe that indoors that game would have gone down to the wire, just like I believe this game against Georgia Southern will.

I like you think it will come down to the 4th to decide the game unless we can shock & awe your defense in the 1st half which wasn't uncommon last year. As you can see by the stats I posted we average 7.1 yards a carry and 381 YPG. I think GSU leads FBS in rushing.
Phil Steele may not feel its a big deal to fill the offensive line of Toledo but GSU is only in its second year of FBS and will only have 70 Scholarships to draw from. Yes we filled in most of the 85 scholarships allotted us this year but as you know they are freshman whow only have the summer to train with our team so I doubt they will have any impact. On a positive note for GSU the head coach released a statement that our 4 replacements will do fine.
Still without depth we lead NC. State and GT in the last 2 minutes of the game and fumbled the ball inside our 30 both times which lead to GSU losing to both teams.
I enjoy having a civil conversation with you something I cant get from P5 teams. I always end up flaming their posters.

Talon, it is great that you came here to talk football with us and let us know more about GSU. I go to all of the Bronco away games and have met some wonderful people in my travels. It sounds as if your offense relies on the running game a lot to set up the pass, and our front seven on the defensive side of the ball will be our strength this year. It is our secondary that we will be breaking in since we lost three starters off last years unit and two of those are in NFL camps this fall trying to garner spots on the permanent rosters. Our defensive coordinator believes that we will be fine in that area. Last year our linebacking corps was very thin as we had only one reserve to count on. We started a true freshman on the unit and he became a strength as the season wore on. Our biggest hole to fill was in the nose tackle position.
We will have the benefit of basically all of our offense returning, losing one offensive lineman due to graduation. Our running back was one of the leading rushers in the nation until he injured his foot in the last three games of the year. Our best receiver was fourth in the nation in receiving yards. We will have a very balanced attack, and should test your defense some as they are a year older, and that much more comfortable in the offense.
Do not look at the score of the Air Force game as an true indicator of our ability. If we had not had a touchdown called back on a questionable penalty, the results would have been different. We did have a couple of turnovers, one a fumble that was returned for a touchdown. Those mistakes may not occur again as the team takes very good care of the football.
I'm looking forward to the season but not so much as I do like to golf in the summer. See you in September.

Scoring Offense :
Toledo 36.6 pts/gm #19/#1 MAC
WMU 33.8 pts/gm #32/#2 MAC
2014-01/2015 NCAA SOS: WMU #107(#9 MAC)
Franklin:
Rushing TD's #4 FBS/#1 MAC
Rush Yds #16/#2 MAC
Rush Yds/gm #17/#3 MAC
Rush Yds/carry #73/#6 MAC
Against MAC West Teams with Winning Records:
Toledo- 20 Carries 64 Net Yds 1 TD
CMU-18 Carries 77 Net Yds 1 TD
NIU-29 Carries 97 Net Yds 1 TD
Have to say the top 3 Freshman RB's last season were:
Perine, Chubb, and Freeman.
Have to say again that WMU, a solid MAC program, where 4 or 5 wins was a bad season under Cubit, doesn't overnite become a 1 win program in 2013. Losing to Nicholls State and EMU absolutely made no sense. Probably should have beaten CMU too.

all of this is sour grapes and old news...the old power structure in the MAC are shaking in their boots and you know it. The Cubit part was sliced and diced to molecule size particles, nothing new to say about that or the 1 win season or any of that. Over, done, moving on with the program.
