Someone can look it up, but seems like we do have a few more National Games on FS1 and CBBSN overall as a conf. than last season..I could be wrong but seems that way....

2014:

CBS: 9 - 6 Saturday, 1 Friday, 1 Thurs. (3 Primetime)
FS1: 6 - 2 Sat., 3 Fri, 1 Thurs. (3 Primetime)
FSN (or FS1): 20
FCS: 10

2015:

CBS: 9 - 4 Sat., 3 Fri., 2 Thurs. (7 Primetime)
FS1: 8 - 3 Sat., 3 Fri., 1 Thurs., 1 Sunday (4 Primetime)
FSN (or FS1):20
FCS: 6

CBS pushed us away from Saturdays, but we got better time slots.

Fox picked up 2 less games this year, but with more on FS1 and with one additional primtime slot. I think it's kind of a wash or positive for CUSA, with the caveat that ASN sees increased revenues and viewership.

Numbers are a bit off:

FCS will get 4 more games from the pot of 17 reserved for Fox networks. Fox has a game set for FCS every week during the back half of the season. 4 of those slots are TBA.

That leaves 13 for FSN or FS1 to pick from plus the 3 already set for FSN and the 8 already set for FS1. Maybe 1-2 get pumped up to FS1, but I'd say those 13 games will be FSN heavy. So, we'll get 24 games on FSN or FS1 plus 10 on FCS. Down 2 from last year, but remember that there is one less week of college football based on this calendar. I agree that the slots are better this year, too.

Can we glean anything from this about our next TV contract? MattSarz?

I think we should commit to more Thursday and Friday night games for our next deal. That keeps us away from Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but it also gives the networks programming they seem to really want from CUSA on Thursdays, Fridays, and holidays.

I can't wait to leave this dump of a conference.

Haha, seriously? Cry me a river, WKU had to pay their dues before any national TV games, ODU will have to do the same...What ODU has been FBS 1 year, I don't think that quite means you have paid your dues and or done anything on the field yet to warrant a slew of national tv games....I am sure ASN will have all of your others games so you will not cry over it...

If you told me 5 years ago WKU would have every football game on national TV I would have laughed at you...

Here's a good site for keeping track of TV. http://mattsarzsports.com/Contract/GameL...W22589VgoI

You have to be careful when reading CUSA Press Releases as they include away games in the numbers which can be misleading as they are included in opponent's contracts, not CUSAs. For example, last year CBSSN picked up 7 CUSA games and selected 7 again this year. Per the original contract they are to pick up between 13-15 games per year. They usually picked up the max in CUSA2 (15) and another 10 or so to sub out to CSS. Obviously, with CSS going dark, they have less need for inventory. Their current deal with ESPN for AAC content is for 13-15 per year (same deal they had before). So, when people say CBS has walked away, they mean cutting broadcasts by over 50%. BBall declined by over 50% as well (CUSA2 vs. CUSA3).

The interesting thing is it looks as if FOX has put CUSA on the 12 day window with the TBDs. This is good news as some of the better match-ups have opportunities for bigger platforms rather than being preassigned. Last year, FS1 picked up 9 games and have selected 7 this year. I would guess a couple of more will get picked up as the year progresses. FOX has opted to pick up the min. of 30 games. Really would like to see the commish get that number with min. guarantees across platforms. For example, the first year of FS1 (2013), they had to air a min. of 10 and picked up 12! Last year, the wording disappeared, and they showed 9. Hopefully, ASN comes big to the table and the commish gets some min. airings and Big FOX guarantees in the next contract.

This IS a preliminary schedule. Play well and you'll get on national TV in the second half of the season. Don't play do well? Then find your local ASN affiliate.

Weird this thread got to this many posts without a link to the actual TV schedule being posted.

Tough TV schedule for CUSA members. AAC sold itself short $$$ for more exposure on ESPN. Hurts a bit now with less $$$ but long term it is best. ESPN may be the devil but it is the channel everyone watches. Casual fans are going to stumble on a AAC game on ESPN, they aren't stumbling onto games via CBS Sports or Fox Sports channels. Best of luck....fingers crossed USM comes back to the proud winning program it once was.

10 years ago you would be right, now with the plethora of sport channels on regular programmimg, more and more are watching other channels

I can't wait to leave this dump of a conference.

ODU is a new commodity in the college football world.

Sorry, but it takes time to garner TV attention.

Granted, but one fewer game than Charlotte? I'm sure there's more to it than meets the eye, but unless there's other outlets to come, it's not encouraging for ODU fans (though I don't hold the conference accountable and rather like it here)

Charlotte has had very good ratings for their games locally and Fox Sports is literally a mile from our campus.

Stop crying and play the games.

I'm not crying, and I'm sure they'll play the games (unless North Carolina shows up on the schedule again 07-coffee3). I guess I find it unfortunate bordering on dubious that a .500 team with automatic sellouts at home can't get better TV penetration than this. But then, many of the FS1 games are pegged to P5 programs and N.C. State, while a perfectly cromulent program, isn't a top 25 threat most likely.

They wanted to put that game on CBS or FOX but on Fri night but NCST wouldn't agree to it.

You still want to be on the Worldwide Leader if you can help it. The Big East gets dog$#it for ratings on FS1, NBC Sports is nowhere and CBS Sports is an exburb of nowhere. Maybe down the line that changes, but it's gonna take an awful lot of time to get there, if it ever happens.

On the worldwide leader's flagship station or ESPN 2 yes, but if you're talking about the U, ESPN3, or Tuesday/Wednesday night games then FS1 or CBS Sports is far superior.

True. Harry Minium had ODU's AD on record saying the game would have been on CBSSN if NC State had agreed to move it. Thought for sure it would air on FSN after the declined date change, but as others have said, Cox has had to make special arrangements previously to air FSN games.

http://hamptonroads.com/2015/04/nc-state...-night-odu

As for CBSSN, they've been at seven C-USA controlled games each of the past two years. The nine they are showing one the release includes non-conference games where the C-USA school is the road team. Same with the other networks on the release.

For the "FOX Network To Be Determined" games, four of those games (one per week from 10/31 - 11/21) will be shown on FOX College Sports. FOX put out their own release yesterday and there were four TBD games on FCS those weeks with C-USA as the designated conference. My guess is that FOX did not want to earmark a game for FCS then be unable to move it to another FOX platform.

http://www.foxsports.com/bin/presspass/d...hedule.pdf

I think you'll see 1-2 more games on FS1.

Really hoping WKU's game vs. MTSU is on FS1, that games needs to be on national TV every season on a Saturday night...Happy at least its still on a Sat. night like last season and still early enough where it should not be freezing cold...

FS1 only has daytime windows on 10/10 (12pm & 4pm ET). Same with FSN (12pm & 3:30pm ET). Don't think it will be a Saturday night.

Also, re: La Tech-WKU on Thursday 9/10 - that game is going up against the opening Thursday night of the NFL season (Steelers at Patriots). The TV audience for that C-USA game may be elsewhere. C-USA has been stuck in that timeslot for three years in a row. In some ways, its a business decision by FOX. Burns off a FS1 game.

ESPN no longer bothers airing a Thursday night game on ESPN or ESPN2 opposite the opening Thursday NFL game. They do, however, have US Open tennis commitments instead, specifically the women's semifinals on ESPN.

Not finding FS1 just confuses me. I don't know about other cable companies or satellite but here in WV, FS1 and ROOT (which airs FSN games) are both just a few channels above ESPN and ESPN2 on the expanded basic tier.

ESPNU & ESPNews (where the majority of AAC games are found) are on a sports tier you have to pay extra for along with CBS Sports, SEC Network, Big Ten Network etc. up in the 700's.

So around here it's easier to stumble across a C-USA game than it is an AAC game.

Wow that means WKU's tailgating this season is going to be non existent without a single Sat. night game on schedule this season...will also hurt attendance too...So not a way the MTSU game ends up on FCS at night? We are at the mercy of being TV slaves which is not ideal with all of these early starts, really hurts the people who love to tailgate and drink, haha....I guess Mimosa will be drink of choice this season in BG...Really wish we had that 6th home game...

Not likely. FCS is only scheduled to carry one game, Rice at FAU, on 10/10. By that point in the year, many FOX RSNs start to ramp up their local NHL schedules too.

Also, the date is a bit of an issue because FS1 carries MLB postseason. That would be the first Saturday of the two ALDS series, probably games one or two depending on which series starts first. FOX does have to sell two DS games to MLB Network, usually around the 2nd or 3rd game of a series.

The numbers say otherwise. Example.
Thursday Oct 24 395K 7:00 PM UConn/ECU ESPNU
Friday Oct 25 576K 7:00 PM USF/Cincinnati ESPN2
Saturday Oct 26 137K 3:30 PM FAU/Marshall FS1

FYI: I'm not cheery picking these either. Only 6 of FS1 CUSA conference games ticked enough to show on the TV rankings.

CUSA largest game was the CUSA Championship game on ESPN2 with 725k viewers. On that same day 1.31M for Houston/Cincinnati on ESPN. All the other FS1 or Fox games that showed were Big12 games. I don't see any examples of FS1 or CBS being far superior for CUSA. As I stated earlier, we aren't getting a great or even good deal with ESPN on $ but dwarfs all the other non-P5 in viewership...not even close.

C-USA fans, don't forget that it is the duty of AAC fan boys (especially former conference mates) to come over to our board and trash us when ever the opportunity presents itself. They do have the better tv platforms and ratings so they have the numbers to back it up. It is curious though as to why the need is there.

It is a discussion. Nothing personal, nor name calling. The other boards are beating it down but figured best to talk directly to you guys, since there is history with some of you.

FS1 perhaps, but everywhere I've been, CBS Sports has been an upper-tier channel, if it's offered at all. Often it's not in HD as well.

If I had to rank the cable channels in order of preference, presuming a uniform start time/day:

ESPN
ESPN2
ESPNU
FS1
NBC Sports
ESPNews
ESPN regional channels (Longhorn and SEC)
CBS Sports
Fox College Sports
FS2 (if it even exists anymore?)
