How can you know that?

It's an educated guess based off of the fact that they have been a bad team historically, and now have to start all over, and kids know that UAB has a terrible administration, and a heartless president. You don't think that will play into recruiting? If I'm South Alabama, I'm reminding every recruit about all those athletes who got kicked to the curb, only to find out it was for no reason.

Cant imagine Watts being there by signing day

Still got the same BoT, and nothing has really changed from 6 months ago. No new facilities, no OCS and except for head coach, what will be a brand new coaching staff.

You guys played them one time and it was in their transitional year. Pretty pathetic that you're bragging about that one.

Agreed. Watts wounded UAB.... maybe they are just letting the program bleed out

I mean Watts/UABoT is essentially saying "fine, you want it? go fund it". This will be a daunting task.

10 seasons following the crash their record was: 36-72-2 (0.33636)

1970. Plane crashes killing many members of a football team.
Does not post a winning record in 12 years following the crash.
Record for 10 seasons following the crash: 22-85-1 (0.20833)

Two programs hit with adversity and tragedy roughly a month apart.
One community rallied and made it a point of pride to support, the other never embraced the program.
One became the subject of a feel good movie, the other their football legacy is mostly forgotten because they dropped football.

The positive for UAB is that the community has taken ownership, as long as that feeling of ownership can be maintained all is good, but that's the challenge isn't it or as they say, that's why we play the games.

Good post. But just a point of clarification: We didn't have a winning season for 14 years after the crash (6-5 in the Stan Parrish era).

I only went 12 years because of the reclassification.

Not bragging about it but if you're gonna throw stones and you live in a glass house, you can't say don't throw my way because my house was just built.

And the jags are 0-fer against FIU.

It yells (instead of just saying) USA's program is light years ahead of FIU's. Can't believe you had the stones to reply to his post. Surely you have better sense to believe that coosa is superior than the SBC.

Changing the conversation now? I never mentioned CUSA, we beat you while we were in the Sunbelt. So where exactly did I say or infer CUSA is better in responding to the jags failed attempt at a joke?

What have I said that was untrue? You are 0-fer against FIU.

Yeah, they had just managed to climb to the status of "competitive" and the plug gets pulled. I understand that their reinstatement has strings attached that will continue to hamper their ability to improve the program. If the $20 million they raised is legit and comes through, they have to decide if they:

a) Use it to supplement their annual budget or
b) Use it to enhance their facilities.

03-phew That's an impressive list over the span of 5 years. Our program accomplished that, and then some, in one year.

Lmao. FIU beat an FCS transitional USA team that didn't even have FCS depth by one score and a fan is over here gloating? That's rich. You enjoy that win now, you hear?
