Yes, and we will be a 10/12 conference at that point.

If we are 11/11 and we make a -1/+1 add, we get to 10/12.

Adding an eastern school makes it 11/13.

I'm guessing neither of you were Math Majors...right?

I'm a freaking CFO!

My math is right!

Yes it has. My point all along is that nmsu is not an issue for the first all sports add to the conference. It's an issue for the second. Why? Because if you kick Idaho to the curb and add an all sports member you stay at 11 football and move up to 12 Olympic. You only add NMSU as a full member to even out the Olympic sports when you add a second all sports team. The final membership goal has to be 12/14. That's why I think after discussing 10 potential candidates two all-sports names emerged. I think the west is getting NMSU.

I still say you add NMSU Olympics now.

That gets you to to the 11/12. Good for Olympics, not good for football.

Then, you add TWO teams all sports when they are ready (Missouri State, EKU, CC... Pick two) and show Idaho the door at that point. Then you get the 12/14.

There might be zero chance of Liberty going to the Sun Belt at this point...but there is a less than zero chance that Coastal is going to FBS.

That's pretty small-minded.

Coastal has a pretty good shot at going FBS sooner or later. They would be the third FBS team in South Carolina, with USC and Clemson being the other two. They have a reasonable budget and a reasonable school size. Is there fanbase anywhere along the lines of ULL or App yet? No, but comes with time and program success. They would be a solid add for anybody looking for another school on the east coast and they sit in a rather large market.

Liberty, on the other hand, can't get into any conference due to their baggage. Coastal and EKU were listed as possible expansion candidates, not Liberty. Liberty has been shot down numerous times, because 1. you have not proven you're worthy of FBS through big success at a larger program, 2. you're not in a huge market and you wouldn't bring anything out of the usual to the FBS, 3. you have so much baggage that comes along with your name, and 4. you're a private institution looking to fit in with a bunch of publics.

Am I saying that Liberty doesn't belong in the FBS? No. Do they belong right now? I don't think so. Win a national championship. Go to the Final Four. Do something big that will make waves and get rid of the bad connotation that comes with your name. Liberty may make it someday, but belittling CCU because they're not you is just pointless. They have the same aspirations as you: to be better.

All this coastal/eku talk is the sbc trying to strike fear and panic in JMU and Mo St. Will they call the sbc's bluff is the question.

I'm a Liberty fan...but I think that Coastal would make a good addition to any conference. Although as long as Liberty's in the Big South, I'd like Coastal to hang around as well!

Coastal's location and campus are really nice. The only thing they'd have to do is expand their football stadium seating.

The only thing they'd have to do is pretty much everything. Vastly expand their budget (where is that $ coming from in SC?), build a new stadium, get their Title IX house in order, double their fan base, etc. Nothing about their program or school is close to being FBS ready. A cake walk schedule and couple of playoff wins don't do that.

Maybe you guys should start considering Richmond, they've won a few games too. At least they have cash. 03-lmfao

I get what you are saying but JMU is not worried about missing the ship to the FBS

Laugh all you want but Coastal Carolina will be a member of the Sun Belt before Liberty ever gets another sniff.

I think JMU is getting a little worried, in my opinion...

Someone explain to me why CCU would be a better invite then JSU.

I know I pimp them heavily, more then they pimp themselves, but their facilities are ready, their support is ready and their team is ready, in football.

They also have $100 million larger endowment.
