It really brings me back to the fact that we need 16 with dynamic divisions to fix the problem.

Dook will end up with Georgia Tech as one of their three permanents. The Yellow Jackets and the Dookies have played football every year since 1933.
You can't fix divisions or a 3-3-5 alignment until you learn, understand and are sensitive to the history of the conference and it's teams.

Acc can say ok we bring it to NBC and they lose the entire Acc product line which Includes all basketball from the preeminent basketball league in college sports -Acc says take it to court and don't think ESPN wants that .

No way do they want more UVa vs. Ga Tech and Wake vs. Syracuse games at the expense of FSU vs GT or even Wake vs. UNC. ESPN wants good match-ups, and that means rivalries on the FIELD - not in the classroom. I'm sure they couldn't care less about "institutional fit" when it comes to football - they just want good games!

Add two teams (Houston and Rice) and create 4 pods, doing away with divisions and just having the best 2 teams in the championship

If the ACC ever adds 2 G5 teams from the Gulf Coast area, they would have to be from 2 different states most likely - like Houston and Tulane.

Sure. If we've learned anything about college football it's that folks in Texas and Louisiana really crave more opponents like BC, Syracuse, Pitt, Wake Forest, etc.

Just so we are clear, I do NOT think those are the best additions!

As long as they would be invited to a P5 Conference, I dont think a team like Houston or Rice would really care about playing the likes of BC, Cuse, Wake or Pitt. That being said, Houston would never be in the Acc as we know it today.

RE: ACC should consider changes at spring meetings
So basically no one likes the Houston/Rice expansion proposal? Seems like it's approval rating is about the same as it was a month ago: pretty low.

RE: ACC should consider changes at spring meetings
I don't think the ACC ever expands into TX unless some earth shattering break in the P5 caused the lid to pop off the Big12. Even then your talking vast travel distances beyond what we're already dealing with. If it ever did happen it's not gonna be for Houston and Rice. I just don't see Florida State and Notre Dame heading out to rice to compete in sports. Ever. I think this is an Eastern league. After reading about the WVU travel grind I'm good with it.

Houston in the ACC is a silly idea at best. Rice is not much better.

I agree the whole idea is silly, but you think Houston is a worse addition than Rice?

ACC should consider changes at spring meetings
You guys realize that both Houston and rice are in the same city right? Dumb idea anyways but that makes it even more ridiculous

Houston/Rice is ridiculous...if UT ever comes (which is a pipe-dream IMHO) they will bring along a few teams like OU/Baylor/TCU

RE: ACC should consider changes at spring meetings
There's nothing worse than going to Houston to play sports. Long trip, no fans - empty stadium, and what's worse they always have surprising talent. They can beat you if you don't play motivated football. So your team gets lulled to sleep and then is forced to fight through a surprisingly tough situation. Another city school with not quite all the ingredients to put it together. Huge city with lots and lots of football talent. They also had a nice era of power basketball teams. Best money could buy. Rice is just not even worth the discussion.

They may be equally bad for the Acc. Rice has great academics, terrible revenue sports, while Houston has decent to good revenue sports and bad academics. The city of Houston would be a plus but does anyone in Houston care about either team? Neither would pay their way in the Acc. My opinion, for what its worth.

RE: ACC should consider changes at spring meetings
Houston is the better addition than Rice. That's not even debatable. And neither are good additions. That's also not debatable. The ACC will never add both, together. Again, that's not debatable.
I only asked because someone keeps trying to push that idea and wouldn't listen to my previous comments attesting to the poor decision that would be. And clearly everyone but this one person thinks it's a poor decision. And it's not debatable.
