If you want to live irrationally afraid of society, despite it being objectively safer now for both police and citizens, feel free. But your feelings about how tweets somehow matter don't really change those aforementioned facts, and your argument makes you look stupid to anyone who isn't already inclined to agree with you.
Well it appears you're beginning to finally understand.
Those who aren't inclined to agree with me are, in fact, stupid. Obviously.
I can hardly get through your nonsensical posts, thus why I quote the most nonsensical part and focus on destroying it.
Who is afraid by the way? Who ever said that?
Those who believe things that are proven objectively wrong with factual evidence do come off as stupid, yes. Peoples lives are worth more now, given our murder rate, than anytime in your lifetime. You come off as stupid when you say things that contradict this.
You believe a lower murder rate proves that people believe a life is worth more now than in the past?
Oh, son, it's much deeper than that. You know this.
I think I've given quantifiable evidence to back my opinion, whereas all you have is vague complaints over tweets and some societal decline you have yet to define or hypothesize about how you'd measure it. This is why you look stupid in this argument, it's like you don't even care to justify your viewpoint. And it's not about justifying it to me, it's about justifying it to yourself, which you're clearly having problems with.
Justifying my viewpoint....let's see. Observation. Empiricism. Having my eyes open. Accepting reality. Denying denial.
I'm glad you brought up the advent of social media because it does nothing but stomp out your own opinion.
Social media, as brain-killing as it is, has been a useful tool to expose how remarkably stupid, ignorant, and repugnant the masses are. Especially whenever tragedy strikes. This obviously applies for all sides in all situations, it's hardly limited to this event.

RE: Two Police Officers Shot In Hattiesburg, MS....Both have now died.
FBI: Number Of Cops Murdered In Line Of Duty SKYROCKETED In 2014
You don't hear a word out of Obama's Justice Dep't on this...not a word. Only how racist and evil the police are.
Quote:The number of law enforcement officers who were “feloniously killed” in the line of duty increased 89 percent between 2013 and 2014, according to preliminary statistics released Monday by the FBI.
Fifty-one officers were killed last year, up from the 27 murdered in 2013.
News of the increase comes amid a heated national debate over police safety and police-involved killings.
Two cops were murdered in Hattiesburg, Miss. during a traffic stop over the weekend. And last week, 25-year-old New York City police officer Brian Moore died after being shot while questioning a man in Queens.
Moore was the third NYPD officer killed in five months. In December, officers Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos were murdered by Ismaayil Brinsley while they were sitting in their patrol car in Brooklyn. Brinsley, who had a long criminal history, posted to social media about shooting the officers and referred to Michael Brown and Eric Garner, two black men killed in police-involved incidents.
The shooting touched off a heated debate over whether government officials such as New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder were stoking anti-cop fervor. De Blasio and Holder echoed sentiments from many activists who have called for police reform. Holder has opened investigations into numerous police departments as well as into several high-profile police-involved shootings.
The number of officers killed last year is still below the average for the 35-year period. Sixty-four officers were killed on average each year between 1980 and 2014. The 27 killed in 2013 was the lowest during that period. In 2012, 49 officers were murdered in the line of duty.
While police officers’ unions and other police officials have argued that anti-cop rhetoric has led to an increase of violence against officers, activists have pushed back on that claim by asserting that killings have reached recent historical lows.
According to the FBI’s recent statistics, 11 officers were killed while responding to disturbance calls, 10 were conducting traffic stops or pursuits, eight were ambushed, six were investigating suspicious persons or circumstances, five were performing other investigative activities, four were killed while engaged in tactical situations, three were involved with persons with mental illness, three were slain while attempting an arrest, and one officer was killed during a drug-related matter.
Firearms were used in 46 of the 51 killings, the FBI found. Thirty-two of those incidents involved handguns, 11 involved rifles and three involved shotguns. Four officers were killed with vehicles and one was beaten to death.
Despite the increase in murders, the number of officers who were accidentally killed in the line of duty fell slightly — from 49 in 2013 to 44 last year. Twenty-eight died in automobile accidents, six were killed in motorcycle accidents and five were struck by other vehicles.

God you're only making yourself look worse. I mean this as nicely as possible and I'm being serious, you really need to learn some more before you talk so much. None of what you listed is quantified, measurable, or at all specific. You might as well be the idiot who said they questioned public polling data because they saw more Romney yard signs, as if that opinion f*cking matters. It doesn't. Data matters. Evidence matters. Your 'observations' don't mean sh*t to anyone, and that should include yourself.
You're not even aware of how silly every one of your posts is, and how just useless it is to anything besides an insular ideologically driven circle jerk of similarly minded people.

One year does not make a trend, and it's still far less than cops killed in the line of duty a decade or two ago. That's the problem with statistics in this manner, well especially concerning those who don't know how to read them.

First off, get mad bro.
Second off, what we are arguing really isn't quantifiable. Whether or not humans value life more now than they used to or vice versa. Feels are not quantifiable. All we can go off of are observations/empiricism while accepting what you observe as reality without subjecting it to your own ideologies. Your "murder rate is down so people must care more about human life" (ERC's post is relevant to that btw) holds no water at all. It proves jack shiit.
I know you're doing your best with your little brain to mock and belittle, which.....makes only you look like a petulant child.

It absolutely is quantifiable and measurable, it's just hard to do so and the lack of doing so has somehow given you the impression it's impossible. That being said, my comments are absolutely on point to the subject matter itself, and the most obvious measure of a lifes value would be rate in which people end lives, especially given the context in which the comment was originally stated. It's admittedly more clunky of a measurement than I'd like, and not as specific as you'd prefer, but it's sure better than what you're doing which consists of just throwing your hands up and acting like one cannot measure it but you just know it's happening. Offer another metric, or admit you're just talking out of your @ss.
You cannot help yourself but to be wrong at every single point, can you?

I'm glad you brought up the advent of social media because it does nothing but stomp out your own opinion.
Social media, as brain-killing as it is, has been a useful tool to expose how remarkably stupid, ignorant, and repugnant the masses are. Especially whenever tragedy strikes. This obviously applies for all sides in all situations, it's hardly limited to this event.
I know you're doing your best **with your little brain** to mock and belittle, which.....makes only you look like a petulant child.
aren't you a mod here?

Great. A spirited and rather interesting conversation/debate/clash of opinions on current events and public "mood" or condition and suddenly some third party wants to come in and cry to a Mod. Good grief, grow the eff up.
To the relevant topic, IMO you both have legit points or positions. By the numbers, it is indeed correct that violent crime and that which would include the killing of Police officers are at, perhaps, historic lows.
There are a number of factors in this, not a small one is the cooling off of the "crack wars", gang turf wars and other similar things. A larger impact is probably simply our amazing ability to save lives that 10-15 , 20 years ago would have just been lost. Better medical care, better life saving methods, faster response times etc.
That said, I also believe it to be true and noted that the level of respect and reverence for Police in general has suffered immensely of late and ALL the recent events of cop bashing, what do we want? Dead cops, When do we want them? Now. stuff has certainly taken a toll.
If you think this one subway idiot is the only idiot celebrating a cops death, I'd think one is delusional. And lets keep in mind... This is only May. When that entire case in Baltimore falls apart what then? How long will the paid professional agitators and anarchists hang around to rile the useful idiots to burn and loot their own neighborhoods before they move on to the next G-8 meeting or WTO conference?

That's totally uncalled for. Just because some of us have been outspoken about excessive force doesn't mean we want cops to be killed.
Tha't just pathetic.

Ignore him, I was snarky to you and you have every right to be snarky right back at me. You're still wrong, and painfully so, but you being a mod doesn't carry any weight to this situation.

You wrote the book on pathetic. You and your fellow Libs love to post post after post about about how terrible police are and how they are terrible to blacks, but when confronted with your posts after police are gunned down you scream foul and how you never posted anthing bad about police. Well spin that fairy tale somewhere else. It won't fly here.

No. In the Spin Room bad people are democrats, liberals, blacks, illegals and women running for public office.

I have Asians on my team in LA that reserve the few choice words they use for the LAPD.
While that is true, Obama, via Sharpton has taken it too new levels. While cops may arrest a lot of people in those communities, failure to respect the law and follow commands from law officers make what happens much worse.
Based on what? Any data? Quantifiable evidence?
How about the riots in Ferguson and Baltimore for starters. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to observe current events. Black Criminals being shot by cops isn't something new, but riots didn't happen when "W" was POTUS, or even Clinton for that matter.
Do you even bother to look before you post patently wrong information?

Not to mention, just a few years earlier there were the LA and Mt. Pleasant rights. You're wrong, and you should admit it.
Alright, let me put it this way, not since the Peanut Brain POTUS from GA have there been government EXCUSED riots and high level government officials trying to legitimize convicts as victims.
